  1. OneDrive is Microsoft’s own cloud storage service, initially coming under the name of SkyDrive. It’s integrated in latest Windows iterations, and users have, by default, a generous amount of space to use. So why not save stuff there? We’re not stating that cloud services provide the maximum level of security, since everything there travels on the world wide web. On the other hand, your computer’s security status is also at risk with an active Internet connection, which makes cloud services act as some more available space to store stuff, but with almost the same amount of risk. Sure enough a solid debate can start on this topic, but you don’t get to format or break your cloud space so often as you do with your own computer, which can malfunction from external factors as well. Just as we learned earlier how to selectively synchronize folders with OneDrive, the following steps describe methods to have documents automatically saved there. http://gfycat.com/IndelibleFarflungApatosaur Step 1: Open This PC / Computer. Step 2: Make sure the Folders section is visible, because you need to configure them individually. Step 3: Right-click the Documents folder to access the Properties. Step 4: With the panel up, switch to the Location tab. Step 5-a: Hit the Move button and select the OneDrive folder so that content is synchronized from now on. Step 5-b: Edit the path field and add OneDrive after the user name so that the new target looks something like this: Old Location C:\Users\YOUR_USER\Documents New Location C:\Users\YOUR_USER\OneDrive\Documents Important Note: For some reason, when Microsoft decided to update SkyDrive to OneDrive, the default path of the cloud files on your hard disk drive still use a folder called SkyDrive. Just to make sure files are correctly updated, check what folder Windows uses to sync OneDrive content. -> Open up OneDrive to have its content in plain sight for comparison. -> Navigate to this location: C:\Users\YOUR_USER -> There are two folders you need to identify: OneDrive and SkyDrive. -> Open up each to see if the content matches the actual stuff stored on the cloud service. -> Now use the appropriate folder if you follow Step 5-b. Note: Using Step 5-a to add the Documents folder automatically picks the right folder and you can see it there. Hint: When selecting a folder with more subfolders, make sure to create a parent directory inside OneDrive as the main target, otherwise all subfolders and files from the Documents directory get placed in the root of OneDrive. http://gfycat.com/ThinDenseAfricanwildcat Step 1: Bring up This PC / Computer and expand the Libraries folder in the left navigation pane for individual management of content. Hint: If you can’t find the Libraries folder, click the View menu, and choose to Show Libraries from the Navigation Pane option. Step 2: Right-click on a subfolder from the Libraries directory. Step 3: Press the Add button and select OneDrive to Include Folder, or create a new one inside OneDrive for better management. Step 4: Hit Apply and Ok to confirm all changes. Note: Once you add another folder, it might not automatically be used as a save path. To do this, simply select the folder you added, and choose to Set Save Location. Don’t worry, content is saved locally, as well as synchronized with OneDrive. Hint: You can’t just add the entire Libraries folder, so you need to repeat this process for every Library folder you want to save to OneDrive. http://gfycat.com/TerribleBriskApe Step 1: Open up the target application (in this case any Office component), and access the Options menu. Step 2: Head over to the Save section from the left navigation pane. Step 3: In the Save Documents section, hit the Browse button to change the Default Local File Location. Step 4: Pick OneDrive directly or a custom folder inside. On an ending note It’s a neat idea that Microsoft gives you some free storage space to use, and it’s even better that you can set it as the default save destination for most of your files. Not only do you make sure important documents are kept safe in case something happens to your PC, but also enables you to grab them from anywhere as long as there’s an active Internet connection.

  2. If you’re looking for a way to keep Windows 10 in tip-top shape now that the new operating system is almost here, there are plenty of apps out there that can do this for you and one of the best is Revo Uninstall. The pro version of the app received a new update today that brings improved support for Windows 10, as well as bug fixes and updated plus new language files. In other words, Revo Uninstaller Pro can now remove apps from your Windows 10 computer too, with the same powerful feature package also being offered to wipe leftovers and registry data that could slow down your PC. Revo Uninstaller Pro 3.1.4 works quite alright on Windows 10 already, even though the new operating system is not here officially, but we’ve tested it on build 10240 and everything works just as expected. In addition to the app uninstalled, this program also brings tools to remove unnecessary files from your computer, clean browsing data, remove history of recently used files, delete Windows temporary files and other utilities that can boost your system performance. The only setback is that the app isn’t offered free of charge, but the trial can be used for 30 days without any limitation, so go ahead and download Revo Uninstaller Pro right now to see what it’s up to.
  3. Windows 10 will make its public debut in just 7 days, and the whole world’s getting ready for this big moment, as it represents a crucial launch for Microsoft and its partners, who are expecting bigger sales from July 29 onwards. Microsoft’s Satya Nadella says that he’s confident that Windows 10 can help the recovery of the PC ecosystem and explains that the new OS version has what it takes “to return Windows to growth,” especially because it tackles several platforms at a time and could attract both more users and developers. In a conference call to announce the company’s financial results for the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2015, Nadella has revealed that more than 2,000 devices running Windows 10 are already being worked on and some will become available from day 1. “While the PC ecosystem has been under pressure recently, I do believe that Windows 10 will broaden our economic opportunity and return Windows to growth. First, we have an OEM ecosystem that is creating exciting new hardware designs for Windows 10. In fact, our OEM partners have over 2,000 distinct devices or configurations already in testing for Windows 10 upgrades as well as hundreds of new hardware designs,” he goes on to detail. Can Windows 10 boost PC sales? The biggest question is if Windows 10 can really boost PC sales, given the fact that it will be offered free of charge to those running genuine Windows 7 or 8.1 on their computers. Some say it can’t, especially because it’s hard to find a reason to purchase a new computer as long as existing configurations can run the new OS flawlessly, but Microsoft points out that, in order to get the most out of the new OS, it’s always better to buy a new PC. Features such as Windows Hello, the new biometric authentication system bundled into Windows 10, will indeed require new hardware that’s not yet available, but it remains to be seen how many people will actually buy a new computer to benefit from them.

  4. Microsoft pulled the plug on Windows Server 2003 on July 14, so from now on, this particular Windows version no longer gets updates and security patches, which means that servers still running it could become vulnerable to attacks if an unpatched flaw is found. Unsurprisingly, there are many organizations that are yet to upgrade, and Australian state Victoria is one of them. The Victorian Government has recently agreed to a deal to pay $4.4 million for extended Windows Server 2003 support, as they still have an undisclosed number of computers running this particular OS version. According to Delimiter, CenITex, Department of Health and Human Services and Victoria Police agencies are all included in the deal, which should bring them additional patches and fixes for Windows Server 2003 computers for another year. And the Victorian government is not the only one that’s still on Windows Server 2003 despite the warnings received from Microsoft and its partners prior to the July 14 end of support date. Studies show that at least 20 percent of the business in Australia are still running their servers on Windows Server 2003, and what’s worse, 25 percent of the IT decision makers working for these companies weren’t even aware that Microsoft planned to end support for this old OS version.

Video game developer Treyarch and publisher Activision are announcing that the long-awaited multiplayer beta period for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is set to be first launched on Wednesday, August 19 for gamers on the PlayStation 4, who will be able to test the core mechanics until Sunday, August 23. After that, on Wednesday, August 26, gamers will be able to take part in battles on the Xbox One and on the PC until Sunday, August 30. The official announcement states, "During the beta, fans will have an opportunity to try the new momentum-based, chained movement system, find the perfect Specialist to fit their play style, get a feel for the new multiplayer maps, and more." The team at Treyarch will use the coming weeks to offer details about the maps and the modes that will be part of the multiplayer beta for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3. All those who have placed a pre-order for the new first-person shooter will be able to take part using the special beta code that they have received. Treyarch has said that it wants to get as much feedback as possible from gamers to improve all the core mechanics of the multiplayer. Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 combines future and past action The single player campaign and the competitive multiplayer of the shooter will be set in 2065, during a period when genetic enhancements and advances in robotics have changed warfare. Treyarch has said that it is aiming to deliver a more dynamic experience, with gamers able to quickly get into the action thanks to the use of the new characters, each of them with unique weapons and skills. The studio believes that the level of accessibility for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is improved, but veterans of the series will also have a lot of depth to explore. The Shadows of Evil cooperative zombie campaign will take gamers to a noir version of the 1940s, which is designed to offer a change of pace as gamers work together to take out powerful waves of enemies and bosses. Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 will be out on the PC, the Xbox One, the PlayStation 3 and older home consoles.

  6. Fans of the PlayStation 4 will be able to pick up a new Universal Media Remote for their home console at some point during the month of October, allowing them to control a range of Sony devices from the comfort of their couch. The company has not yet made an official announcement about it, but both Amazon and GameStop are listing the device as coming on either October 15 or October 31. Performance Designed Products has created the new Universal Media Remote for the PlayStation 4, after having come up with a similar device for the PS3, and the device supports use with a Sony set-top box, a TV, and audio receiver. Dedicated buttons will allow gamers to quickly control their home console, and those who want one will need to pay 29.99 dollars or Euro for it. It will be interesting to see whether Sony will offer any more functionality via an update for the PlayStation 4. At the moment, the home console is expanding its entertainment offering, and many users are choosing to make it the center piece of their living room experience. The PlayStation 4 is leading the current-gen sales charts ahead of the Xbox One from Microsoft.

  7. It seems that the continuing integration of the Xbox One and the Windows 10 operating system means that Microsoft has plans to introduce full mouse and keyboard support for the home console at some point shortly. The information comes from an official Twitter message written by Phil Spencer, one of the leaders of the gaming division. The entire conversation that he has with fans is worth exploring because it gives a glimpse into the kind of changes that the Xbox One will get in the coming months. Spencer explains that "keyboard and mouse support for Xbox would need to be there for this to work, those aren't far away." The executive has not offered a clear timeline, and it's unclear whether gamers will be able to use any kind of peripheral with the Xbox One or if they will have to get special hardware. Phil Spencer is also saying that Microsoft is exploring the idea of offering a streaming solution that would allow for Windows 10 video games played on the PC to be streamed to the Xbox One. At the moment when the new operating system is introduced a special app will allow content from the home consoles to the played on the PC. if a keyboard and mouse solution is offered for the Xbox One, it will make it easier for companies to also introduce full cross-platform capabilities for their titles. The Xbox One is still seeking a competitive advantage The coming integration of the gaming segment at Microsoft, which means closer links between the Xbox One and Windows 10, might be the big selling point that the home console needs at the moment in order to increase its sales. For the month of June in the United States, the best-selling piece of current gen hardware was the PlayStation 4 from Sony, which also has an overall lead in the territory and worldwide. Microsoft has said that it wants to improve the performance of its platform before the end of the year, mostly by focusing on the big titles, ranging from Halo 5: Guardians to Forza Motorsport 6 and Rise of the Tomb Raider, that can only be played on the Xbox One. There are also plans to deliver more bundles, offering extra content and free video games, although another price cut has been ruled out. Sony has stated that it wants to also add more value to the PlayStation 4 in order to make sure that it keeps its lead.

  8. It seems that the development team working on the coming NBA 2K16 experience and publisher 2K Games are planning to introduce a new college-powered game mode in the basketball simulation, which will offer gamers the opportunity to play with some of the future stars of the league. The information comes from the official Twitter account of Daren Rivell, who is a sports business reporter for the ESPN. It seems that the college teams confirmed so far include: Arizona State, Arizona, UConn, Georgetown, Louisville, Michigan, Texas, UCLA, Villanova, Wisconsin, and Kansas. More will probably be announced when 2K Games wants to make the new feature official. Apparently, the company has negotiated the rights to use the likenesses of the teams and their players directly with the schools rather than working with the NCAA. NBA 2K16 will be launched on September 29 on the PC, the Xbox One, the PlayStation 4, and older home consoles. Spike Lee, a known basketball fan, was recruited in order to direct the main MyCareer mode of the game, saying that he will seek to introduce more emotion to the sim. The development team is also promising improved mechanics for all phases of the game and more realism when it comes to the interactions between the players.

  9. Video game developer EA Sports is ready to deliver another Team of the Week package for the Ultimate Team mode of FIFA 15, allowing gamers to get access to some solid players that can upgrade their own starting elevens. As in the past few weeks, the number of huge stars is relatively limited by the fact that the big championships of Europe are at the moment in their summer break, with the studio working hard to implement all transfers in the game as soon as possible. The attacking line of the new Team of the Week is made up of Arzuaga, Shatov and Cavenaghi, all unsurprising players. In midfield, FIFA 15 players can count on some solid help: Steven Gerard, who is now playing in the Major League Soccer and is rated at 83, as well as Ayala, Furman, and Alex Teixeira. The back line is made up of three players: Srna, Orozco and Shishkin. The goalkeeper of the Team of the Week is Guilherme. FIFA 15 fans can also pick up seven substitutes that will probably add little overall new value to their own teams. FIFA 16 will deliver Ultimate Team details before the start of Gamescom The development team at EA Sports has suggested that it will deliver more information about the most popular game mode before the start of the gaming event in Cologne, Germany. A first look at an item for Ultimate Team in FIFA 16 has been shown during the presentation of the newly announced partnership with Real Madrid. The coming simulation is designed to use the power of current-gen consoles to deliver an improved set of mechanics and visuals. Gamers will have more options on the defensive, including more ways to use their entire team to stop an attack, and new ways to deliver killer passes to their teammates. All players can now use a new no touch dribbling technique that is inspired by the moves of Lionel Messi and there are new ways to deliver shots on goal. FIFA 16 will be launched on the PC, the Xbox One from Microsoft and the PlayStation 4 from Sony on September 22 in the United States and two days later in Europe.

  10. The team at Mojang in charge of Minecraft is announcing that, for the coming movie based on the video game, it has chosen to work with Rob McElhenney, who is best known for his work on It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. The official site does not offer any other information on the coming project, like when it will be shot or what kind of story it will deliver. Rob McElhenney is a creator, producer and actor on It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and he has already been working with Mojang, appearing at the recent Minecon in London. Minecraft was acquired by Microsoft in late 2014, and the company seems determined to push the franchise into some interesting new directions. Mojang is also working with Telltale Games to create a new Story mode episodic experience based on the title, which will feature a main character voiced by Patton Oswald. At the same time, regular updates are being delivered for all versions of the game and a special edition was announced for the coming Windows 10 operating system, while the title was also used to demo the HoloLens augmented reality concept. Mojang has also said that it wants for Minecraft to offer a unified experience on all platforms at some point in the future.

  11. The Col d'Allos might not be the best-known climb for more recent fans of the Tour de France, but it offers some moments, as already seen this year in a stage in the Criterium de Dauphine, and it starts the final and toughest week of the 2015 race. The course is a recreation of a moment in 1975, when Bernard Thevenet managed to get the Yellow Jersey from the legendary Eddy Merckx, and there will be pressure on the contenders to deliver solid performances to both honor their performance and to show that they can survive until Paris. Pra Loup is not a very hard final climb, and that means that the GC contenders might keep their powder dry today in order to use it later in the week. My own plans are to stay close to the front and react to the moves that others make. This deep into the race, it's hard to know exactly how other riders are feeling, and both in PCM 2015 and in the real world, sporting directors have a hard time creating and implementing strategies before the race. Prediction: Quintana and Froome will battle for the win both in the game and in the real world. The rest day brings a huge element of unpredictability to the stage, as the energy levels of most riders are unclear. A good, not great day for Trek I thought that I managed the race pretty well during this stage, carefully protecting my leader through all the climbs, while also making sure that a solid escape group did not get too far ahead, with some help from Movistar. Contador and Rodriguez jumped ahead relatively early, and I decided to catch up on the descent, but Mollema, even with help from Zubeldia, moved far too slow to keep up with Contador, who managed to take the win by sprinting for the last few meters. I took sixth, managing to come in ahead of both Nibali and Froome, two riders that are far better in terms of core stats and also have solid teams to help them. The problem is that I am running out of energy for my teammates and might end up isolated and alone on the coming mountains. This is how the stage progressed in PCM 2015: https://youtu.be/oeBvidwk_BE

  12. The Xbox Live network is at the moment plagued by issues on both the Xbox One and the Xbox 360, and Microsoft is not yet ready to say when the issues might be eliminated and full functionality restored. Major titles like Battlefield Hardline and FIFA 15 were the first ones to be impacted. The official status page for the service explains that both gaming and social features are affected on the Xbox One home consoles, although it's unclear whether all titles on the device are experiencing trouble. The music, video and TV streaming services on both the new platform and the older Xbox 360 are also affected at the moment. The store is still live on both platforms. The company states, "Thanks for being patient in the meantime, Xbox members! We’ll provide an update as soon as we have more information." Both the Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network have been targeted by DDoS attacks earlier in the year, but the two companies are now working together in order to make sure that they improve their resilience. Online services are increasingly important for both the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4, with users getting more content, both classic entertainment and video games, without resorting to a physical disk

  13. The development team at Eidos Montreal working on Deus Ex: Mankind Divided says that it has not explored multiplayer as a possibility for the coming title in the series. However, the studio says that it might be supported in the future, but only under certain conditions. Patrick Fortier, the gameplay director working on the title, explains that his company is not willing to bring in a third party in order to deal with the mode while it works on the core single player. He is quoted by Games Radar as saying, "I don’t think it’s something that can be tacked on and supported sufficiently well through a third party developer, out of the office. It has to be fundamental right from day one that you’re trying to do that. You have to have the right idea and the right vehicle." The developer appreciates the way BioWare managed to integrate multiplayer into Mass Effect 3, but it believes that, for the core story of Deus Ex, there's no need to complicate matters by introducing other players into the mix. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided will continue to tell the story of Adam Jensen, and it would be easy to create situations where players would have to deal with other humans in a competitive mode. Eidos continues to mix cyberpunk with action The studio says that it is offering gamers a chance to see how the world around the main character reacts to the events at the end of the first title. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided will portray a new political reality and will give Adam Jensen more ways to interact with the environment and to deal with his enemies. A new nano-blade gives him more offensive options, and he also can use a powerful new temporary shield in order to protect himself from attacks. Eidos Montreal also wants gamers to be able to deal with a variety of challenges without having to enter combat, and the dialog system is also upgraded in order to make it easier to explore possibilities. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided will be out on the PC, the PlayStation 4 from Sony and the Xbox One from Microsoft at some point in 2016.

  14. The team at Sony in charge of the new Conversations with Creators concept is ready to deliver the third episode of the series, which has host Wil Wheaton talking to a number of the leaders of video game developer Treyarch. The footage features Mark Lamia, the leader of the studio, game director Jason Blundell, game director Dan Bunting, and studio design director David Vonderhaar. The topics of the discussion include the Call of Duty series, the upcoming Black Ops 3 installment, and the new Shadows of Evil cooperative campaign mode that will be included. Treyarch offers details about its creative process, about the origins of the shooter series it has worked on for the past few years, and the way it decides which new features the community will appreciate most. Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 will be launched on the PlayStation 4, the Xbox One, the PC, and older consoles on November 6 of this year. Gamers who get it on a Sony device will be able to get all the downloadable content packs first, thanks to a new exclusivity deal with Activision, while the rest of the community will have to wait for new maps and weapons for about one full month. https://youtu.be/LWwyfxWVXhs

  15. Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is one of the candidates for the best-selling title of the year, and the development team at Treyarch believes that the wide variety of content that the first-person shooter will deliver will be one of the main contributors to its success. Jay Puryear, the director of brand development at the company, is quoted by GamingBolt as saying, "If you look at all the innovations that we’re doing on multiplayer and really adding this combat loop, progression system, specialists characters. So, there is just so much content on the disc and then when we roll out our zombies I think you’ll see that we’ve got 3 games in 1." He believes that Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is a better video game than Advanced Warfare, which arrived in 2014, and has the ability to bring some fresh ideas to the franchise, after some years during which fans accused it of stagnation. The title will take place in 2065 and is designed to show the way combat, especially engagements focused on infantry, will evolve when gene enhancement becomes commonplace and robotics evolves even faster than today. Treyarch has pledged to introduce more emotion into the narrative of Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 and to offer a bigger focus on characters. Shadows of Evil introduces a full cooperative undead-powered campaign Treyarch has always been known for its work on zombie-powered gameplay, and the coming content will take players to a noir version of the '40s, complete with special characters and unique enemies. Gamers will have to carefully mix their powers in order to take out regular undead and their capable bosses. The competitive multiplayer element of the shooter is designed to offer specialist characters for the first time, allowing gamers to choose between activating their special power and a unique weapon. The mechanics are being tweaked to make the experience more dynamic. Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 will be offered on the PC, the PlayStation 4 from Sony, and the Xbox One from Microsoft on November 6 of this year. There are also versions prepared for older home consoles but they will lack some of the features that other platforms are getting.

  16. Video game developer Visceral Games has not offered any official information about the next downloadable content for Battlefield Hardline, called Robbery, but it seems that the company is planning to introduce at least a new multiplayer mode that will satisfy the community. Thad Sasser, the leading multiplayer designer working on the game, has teased the community in a Twitter message, saying that Gamescom will be the place where the new experience will be revealed. The coming game mode is apparently "sweet," although it's unclear what that means in terms of gameplay. Battlefield Hardline currently has seven multiplayer modes, and the new one might be based on a classic of the series or might be built from the ground up by Visceral Games. The Robbery DLC is set to be launched before the end of the year and will also include new maps and more weapons for the community to use. Hardline will also get a third piece of content in the fall, called Getaway, whereas Betrayal is set to be offered on all platforms in early 2016. The original launch date of the shooter was delayed, but since it was introduced in the spring of this year, it has managed to perform well for Electronic Arts.

  17. The team at Sony in charge of the PlayStation 4 is announcing that it plans to soon deliver a new firmware update for the home console, labeled 2.57, which will apparently only increase the stability of some of the core features. The information comes from the official Twitter account for the platform, but no clear details are offered on when the tweaks will be deployed and exactly what platform mechanics they will target. The 2.57 firmware update for the PlayStation 4 will probably be a mandatory one and might prepare the home console for future improvements. Some fans are speculating that Sony is trying to improve the resilience of the console and to make sure that problems with the PlayStation Network connection have less of an impact on the community. The community has long accused the company of not offering enough information about the changes that it is making to the PlayStation 4 or the PS3 with the firmware updates that it creates and launches. If the hardware team delivered more details, it would make sure that it avoids questions about their necessity. The PlayStation 4 needs to improve its feature list in the coming months At the moment, the Sony home console is selling better than the Xbox One, managing to once again lead the current-gen sales competition for the month of June in the United States, according to the NPD Group. The long-term problem for the PlayStation 4 is that it has a limited lineup of exclusives that it can rely on to generate sales before the end of 2015. Its biggest title, Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, is now set to arrive in the first half of next year. In the meantime, Sony is relying on partnerships with third parties, mostly Activision, to draw gamers in with extra content or timed exclusivities for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 and Destiny. Microsoft is preparing to launch Forza Motorsport 6, Rise of the Tomb Raider and Halo 5: Guardians, which will only be offered on the Xbox One. Firmware updates for the PlayStation 4, especially ones that introduce new features to the home console, are a good way for Sony to add value to its device without implementing a price cut. UPDATE: The PS4 firmware update is now live and the download is a little over 240 MB.

  18. These days, if you happen to be sitting on a brilliant gadget idea, you can easily set up a nice Kickstarter page for it and hope others will like it and pledge money to your campaign. It’s the case of Ubik, a startup that has been busy designing its flagship device which is known as the Uno (or One). Unlike other handset campaigns present on Kickstarter, Uno is presented to us completely designed, so we’re asked to fund only the mass production aspect of it. The Ubik Uno is a pretty good looking smartphone that comes with a metal frame and bezel-free display. Spec-wise, the product isn’t too bad either, being an upper mid-ranger of sorts. The Ubik Uno is quite a sweet bundle The handset takes advantage of a 5.5-inch IPS display with 1080p resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels) and is powered by an octa-core MediaTek MT6795 chipset clocked at 2.2GHz and fitted with 3GB of RAM and 16GB of built-in memory (expandable via microSD card slot up to 64GB of internal storage). In the photography department, users will be pleased to discover that the Uno bundles a 20MP Sony-made sensor with f/2.2 aperture. The shooter can also capture 4K footage at 30fps, 1080p at 60fps, and slow-motion 720p at 120fps. The selfie taker unit located up in front is of the 8MP variety. As for connectivity, we find Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, plus 4G LTE support for both AT&T and T-Mobile. Last but not least, the handset is equipped with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out of the box, which means you will be off the hook when it comes to updates for the time being. If all of these specifications sound good to you, you should know that the first 250 backers of the project would receive the handset for the super affordable price of $280 / €255. The next 1,000 will have to pay a little bit more, meaning $299 / €273, while the last of Kickstarter backers will see it sell for $320 / €300. But when the Uno launches officially, Ubik will be marketing it for $345 / €315, so you’d better hurry up if you want one. The startup hopes to start shipping units out in September.

  19. A few days ago, we brought you news that a bunch of pictures showcasing the Galaxy S6 edge+ compared to the Galaxy Note 4 leaked into the wild, giving you an idea of the real-life dimensions of the phablet. Well, this week, we’re treating you to more Galaxy S6 edge+ imagery. The folks of French website Nowhereelese have managed to get hold of a bunch of pictures showing the Galaxy S6 edge sitting on top of a prototype of the larger Galaxy S6 edge+. So, if you needed more proof that the larger Galaxy S6 edge is indeed coming, here you go. The images reveal a bunch of additional details, including the fact that the microphone at the bottom has shifted position. Moreover, the phone seems to come devoid of an infrared sensor. But given the fact that we’re looking at a prototype device, the infrared sensor will probably make its way into the real product after all. The rest of the hardware will remain absolutely the same as with the Galaxy S6 edge. Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ should be coming next month The phablet should arrive with a larger 5.7-inch display with 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution (QHD standard). Under the hood, the handset takes advantage of an Exynos 7420 processor working hand in hand with 3GB of RAM. You won’t have to wait long for the Galaxy S6 edge+ to make an appearance into the wild, because if the rumor mill is right, Samsung is gearing up to launch the device soon enough. Unlike in previous years, when Samsung hosted a big press event at IFA 2015 in Berlin to unveil its latest phablet, this year the Korean tech giant seems to be worried more than ever that Apple’s September-bound iPhones will overshadow its efforts. So word on the street has it that Samsung has decided to unveil the Galaxy Note 5 earlier than expected, during an event scheduled for August 12. And the company will not unleash one phablet but two, as the Galaxy S6 edge+ is also expected to make a debut during the same date. It appears there’s no next-gen Galaxy Note Edge coming this year, unless Samsung ends up surprising us.

  20. Sony’s current global flagship, the Xperia Z3+, is one of those phones that was released with a Snapdragon 810 chipset on the inside. Naturally, shortly after being rolled out into the wild, we’ve started hearing reports that the Xperia Z3+ overheats. Sony, for its part, has tried to fix things by launching a small software update to fix these problems. The company was also forced to throttle performance on the device, in order to maintain acceptable temperature levels. But the lucrative folks at the xda-developers forum have managed to discover a workaround to resolve the throttling. Is your Sony Xperia Z3+ overheating? A user of the aforementioned forum has found that using simple kitchen foil and a case for the phone might help with the performance drop. Six layers of foil were applied on the back of the handset and were held in place with the help of an Xperia Z3+ case. He then proceeded to run several benchmark test on the phone, first on its own (no foil or case attached), then with a case attached, and lastly with foil inside the case. The results showed that the performance drop is lower when the handset is covered in layers of foil. With no foil included, the performance was 75% in the initial test, while with foil, 80% of the initial performance test was maintained. Another user claims he obtained similar performance benefits using copper foil. So, in case you have been experiencing similar overheating troubles on your Xperia Z3+, you could go ahead and try this DIY method. But keep in mind that if you decide to utilize this solution, you’ll not be able to use NFC. Sony’s Xperia Z3+ has been a pretty big fiasco. Putting aside the Snapdragon 810 and its issues, Sony hasn’t really bothered to add any real changes to the Xperia Z3+ compared to the Xperia Z3. To redeem itself, the phone maker is prepping to launch new flagship products which will apparently make a debut online as the Xperia S60 and Xperia S70. The phones will apparently become available on the market as early as mid-August, before IFA 2015. We’re pretty curious to see what Sony managed to cook up.

  21. OnePlus 2 has already been confirmed for a July 27 unveiling, but the smartphone hasn't been shown anywhere yet so we don't have any idea on what it might look like. Not anymore though, since the smartphone has been recently spotted at TENAA, the Chinese regulatory commission, along with most of its specs in tow. Apart from the fact that we now have a good idea of what the OnePlus 2 looks like, most of the phone's specs have been confirmed as well, a new report coming from China mentions. First of all, it looks like OnePlus has decided to put a physical Home button on its flagship smartphone. For some, the presence of a physical button will make it easier to handle the OnePlus 2, while othesr will hate it for being too unaesthetic. Metal body and fingerprint scanner But apart from that, the OnePlus 2 looks very much like its predecessor, so no surprises here. If you like the original OnePlus smartphone, you will definitely love the new one as well, especially that it features a metal body. Moving on to specs, TENAA's certification can't really be falsified, so the specs listed for the OnePlus 2 should be 100% accurate unless the Chinese company decides to certify another version of the smartphone in the next couple of days. Based on TENAA's listing, OnePlus 2 comes with a 5.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution. The “flagship killer” will be equipped with a 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor paired with an Adreno 430 graphics processing unit and 4GB of RAM. The smartphone will pack 32GB of internal memory and a 3,300 mAh battery. As confirmed by OnePlus, its high-end device will come with USB Type-C port, as well as dual-SIM and 4G LTE support. It will also pack a 13-megapixel photo snapper on the back, along with a 5-megapixel selfie camera in the front, but also a fingerprint scanner under the Home button.

  22. After launching its newest Axon flagship smartphone in the United States last week, Chinese phone maker ZTE has also taken the opportunity to unveil a variant of the top-tier handset which has been especially tailored for the Chinese market, called the Axon Lux. And during the launch event, ZTE also showcased the upcoming Axon Mini smartphone. While not many details were provided about the handset, Gizmo China managed to get hold of some pieces of information related to it. Like the fact that the Axon Mini is apparently the first handset to arrive with force touch technology. If this sounds familiar, it’s because Apple also uses it in its Watch wearable and we’ve also heard rumors that the company’s next-gen iPhones will have displays taking advantage of the technology. Cupertino is poised to unveil new iPhone models in September, so apparently, ZTE has just beaten Apple to the punch by unveiling the first handset with force touch technology. ZTE will probably call the system by some other name While Force Touch is the name given by Apple to the technology, ZTE might end up calling it something else. Anyway, we’re not given a lot of information about the upcoming device except for the fact that it will make a debut with a 5.2-inch display. If you’re unfamiliar with the term force touch, we’ll clear it out for you. This is a system embedded into the display that senses the level of force extended on it and responds accordingly. By virtue of tiny electrodes, force touch is capable of distinguishing between taps and harder presses, and then provides a specific action or specific controls, based on the force of the input. For example, on the Apple Watch, the technology is capable of delivering additional functionality such as providing alternate controls in apps like Messages or Music when the user presses firmly on the display. Going back to the Axon Mini, we can also tell you that ZTE plans to offer it in four different colors, including silver, gold, orange, and pink. The company should make the handset official sometime in September.

  23. Xiaomi has just revealed 32GB model of its Mi4i mid-range Android smartphone, which made its debut in India a few months ago. The Chinese handset maker teased the launch event since last week, and even though it did not offer too many details on what device would be announced today, the teaser was pretty obvious. The Mi4i 32GB comes to fulfill users need for more storage since the standard model comes with only 16GB internal memory. For those out of the loop, Xiaomi Mi4i does not feature microSD card slot, so the default memory is all you get aside from the free cloud service that many services offer. The new Xiaomi Mi4i 32GB will be available for purchase in India for only Rs 14,990, which is about $235 or €215. That's quite a good deal considering what it has to offer in terms of specs. Unfortunately, not many customers will be able to get the new Mi4i 32GB model in India since Xiaomi will only make it available through flash sales. This means that anyone wanting the smartphone will have to register on the company's website and then hope to be able to order one the day Xiaomi will hold the flash sale. The smartphone will soon be available in Dark Grey Speaking of which, the Chinese company announced that the first flash sale for Xiaomi Mi4i 32GB will take place on July 28 from 2PM. Xiaomi Mi4i comes with Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system right out of the box, along with MIUI 6.0 on top. It packs a 64-bit 1.7GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor paired with an Adreno 405 graphics processing unit and 2GB of RAM. The smartphone sports a 5-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution and features Corning Gorilla Glass coating. There's also a 13-megapixel camera on the back which features autofocus, dual-LED (dual tone) flash and full HD (1080p) video recording, as well as a secondary 5-megapixel selfie camera.

  24. Chinese company ZTE introduced its new flagship smartphone, the Axon Phone, in the United States last week. The company confirmed the device would be available in Canada as Axon Phone Pro in the coming weeks, too. Today, the handset maker announced the upcoming availability of its top-tier smartphone in China, its native country. However, the Axon Phone for China comes with different specs and design, as ZTE especially tailored the device to suit this market. For example, the standard version of Axon Phone will be available in China with 32GB of internal memory, 3GB RAM and 5.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution. The handset will be available in two color options, Ion Gold and Chromium Silver, for just 2,699 yuan, which is about $435 or €395. On the other hand, the improved version of Axon Phone will feature faux leather on the back and 128GB of storage inside (expandable to 256GB). Three different biometric authentication options It will also come with fingerprint scanner, but also eye scanner, both of which are missing from the Axon Phone available in the US. According to ZTE, this is the world's first smartphone to offer users three different biometric authentication options. Apart from that, the Axon Lux will be packed with the same specs as the US version of the smartphone, so expect the same Snapdragon 810 CPU paired with 4GB RAM, as well as 5.5-inch Quad HD display. The ZTE Axon Lux will be available for pre-order in China beginning July 21 for 3,888 yuan outright, which translates into $625 or €570. Last but not least, ZTE announced plans to launch an Axon Mini version of its flagship smartphone, which will be available in China in the coming weeks. The smartphone will pack a smaller 5.2-inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution, but aside from that no other details have been revealed.

  25. Microsoft is completely overhauling its mobile business, not only by firing more people but also by making some changes to its own strategy, planning to focus on three different device categories, namely value phones, business models, and flagships. Redmond already has two flagships running Windows Phone on the market, namely the Lumia 930 and the Lumia 1520, but both have failed to impress for a number of reasons. Microsoft CE Satya Nadella admits that his company needs to focus more on high-end phones, pointing out that the current models aren’t good enough to compete against similar devices running rival platforms. “We're going to have great flagship phones for Windows 10. That's actually a segment we don't today have good devices, and we hope to change that with Windows 10,” he said in a conference call following the Q4 2015 financial results meeting. Full focus on low-end and mid-range Windows Phone currently has a market share of around 3 percent, and this is mostly thanks to low-end and mid-range devices that have attracted more buyers to the platform. Flagships, on the other hand, have sold in very small numbers, with Microsoft showing a growing interest in more affordable devices. While the Lumia 1520 was rather well received, not the same thing can be said about the Lumia 930. Although a flagship, the device lacks support for Glance Screen, one of Microsoft’s best Windows Phone features, and is often described as a device that offers rather poor battery life and suffers from overheating. Value phones, on the other hand, are supposed to help Microsoft gain market share, and Nadella says that Redmond should continue improving in this business. “And in the value smartphones, that's the place where I want us to be much more efficient. We clearly have some value to add there because of the uniqueness of Office and Skype and our services. But at the same time, I think we want to be smart about how many of these phones do we want to generate, how many, which price points we want to participate. That's where you will see the most significant operational changes from how we operated last year to the coming year,” he explained. The first Windows 10 Mobile devices are expected to arrive in just a few months with the debut of the new smartphone OS, but Microsoft hasn’t provided any details on timing just yet.
