  4. Several anti-virus vendors have begun blocking uTorrent after identifying the software as malicious or potentially dangerous. In addition, Google Chrome is currently blocking several pages on uTorrent's official website. According to the reports the popular file-sharing application is linked to riskware and trojans. With millions of new downloads per month uTorrent is without doubt the most used BitTorrent client around. The software is the main source of revenue for the San Francisco based company BitTorrent Inc. and generates income through advertisements and bundled software. The latter now appears to be causing trouble as several anti-virus vendors have begun listing uTorrent as a security risk. The scanning result below from VirusTotal shows that at least six anti-virus applications, including ESET and Symantec, have flagged the software as problematic. The anti-virus scans associate the uTorrent.exe file with Trojan.Win32.Generic!BT and the controversial OpenCandy bundling software. While this isn’t the first time that uTorrent has been flagged in this manner, we haven’t seen it being reported by this many independent tests before. In addition to action by the anti-virus companies, uTorrent is also being blocked by Google in several ways. When attempting to download the latest stable release of the torrent client, Chrome flags the software as malicious and blocks the download, although this only appears to happen sporadically. Google is also actively blocking several pages that link to uTorrent and other BitTorrent Inc. software. According to Google, parts of the uTorrent website contain “harmful programs.” The same “harmful software” warning from Google also prevented millions of people from accessing popular torrent sites earlier this month. A Google spokesperson informed us that this was the result of the company’s increased efforts to block programs that make “unexpected changes” to people’s computers. “Google Safe Browsing’s ability to detect deceptive software has steadily improved,” the company explained in a recent blog post. “In the coming weeks, these detection improvements will become more noticeable in Chrome: users will see more warnings about unwanted software than ever before,” Google adds. These and the other uTorrent threat reports all seem to be triggered by bundled third-party software bundled. There is no indication or evidence that the BitTorrent client itself is harmful. We asked BitTorrent Inc. for a comment on the recent reports but the company has yet to respond.
  5. Coinffeine has launched its decentralised open-sourced P2P bitcoin exchange in over 70 countries. By integrating with Russia-based payment processor OKPay, the Spanish company has enabled bitcoin enthusiasts to purchase and sell the digital currency in countries including Russia, China, Indonesia, Brazil and the Eurozone. Speaking about the launch, Alberto Gomez Toribio, the company's CEO, said: "We want our customers to be those who simply have a PayPal-like account and want to buy or sell bitcoins in a simple and effective way." The launch follows the release of Coinffeine's decentralised technical preview version in April, which sought to familiarise developers and early bitcoin adopters with the platform. How it works According to its website, Coinffeine uses bitcoin's decentralised nature to create a secure way for people to exchange the digital currency with an untrusted third party. When users download Coinffeine's desktop wallet app, they can sign in and link their account with their OKPay account. Users hold bitcoin in their desktop wallet and they deposit fiat into their OKPay account, which means Coinffeine never handles its customers' funds. By not handling or holding customer's bitcoin or fiat deposits, Coinffeine is not required to enforce Know-Your-Customer (KYC) guidelines, simplifying user registration and lowering operational costs. Not having to identify users, Gomez said, has allowed for a much more scalable business model. "Coinffeine is like BitTorrent, you just download it, connect your OKPay account ... and use it." When asked about monetisation, Gomez noted that Coinffeine – which received funding from Spanish bank Bankinter's Innovation Foundation – bases its business model on revenue share agreements with payment processors and bank partnerships. Coinffeine is not currently charging fees, but the CEO noted that OKPay would charge a 0.5% commission for bitcoin purchases. Given the platform is still in beta, users are currently recommended to "spend moderate amounts of money".
  6. On Sunday night, Ashley Madison, the premier dating site for adulterers, was hacked by a group calling itself the Impact Team. The hackers say they have the financial records for all of the site’s 37 million users and that they will release more and more data every day, unless the Ashley Madison site is taken down. The Internet is feasting on the news, with many gleeful about the opportunity to see cheaters put in the digital pillory. But it hasn’t happened yet. The leak has been more widely reported than seen, thanks to Ashley Madison’s use of a legal tool from the 1990s that was created to help the entertainment industry combat piracy. Brian Krebs, the prominent security blogger who first reported about the Ashley Madison leak on Sunday, said the hacked material quickly disappeared. “In the short span of 30 minutes between [a brief interview with Ashley Madison’s CEO] and the publication of this story, several of the Impact Team’s Web links were no longer responding,” wrote Krebs. In other words, Ashley Madison had killed the Impact Team’s initial leak before Krebs even got his story up about the leak’s existence. “Using the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), our team has now successfully removed all posts related to this incident as well as all Personally Identifiable Information (PII) about our users published online,” said Ashley Madison parent company Avid Life Media in a statement. “We have always had the confidentiality of our customers’ information foremost in our minds and are pleased that the provisions included in the DMCA have been effective in addressing this matter.” The DMCA was originally passed in 1998 to help movie studios and music makers who were increasingly seeing their products show up online, posted and monetized by “copyright pirates.” But recently, the DMCA has taken on new life as a way for hacking victims to get their stolen material taken offline. Jennifer Lawrence used DMCA takedown notices, for example, to get Google to stop linking to her stolen nude photos. Ashley Madison is using the same tactic, but more controversially, because there’s a big question about whether it actually has a copyright on its users’ information. Parker Higgins, director of copyright activism at the Electronic Frontier Foundation, says Ashley Madison’s using the DMCA is “fraudulent.” “They don’t have a copyright on what they’re sending notices about,” said Higgins. In an inquiry to Ashley Madison about what the site has copyright on in the stolen information, a spokesperson said she could only point to the official statements that have been made thus far. While the DMCA may be working right now for Ashley Madison to get websites to take its information down, “it underscores other concerns about the DMCA as an existing censorship tool,” said Higgins. The DMCA has long been a controversial legal tool because it is tilted so heavily in favor of copyright holders. When a site gets a DMCA takedown notice, it must immediately comply or risk liability for posting of the copyrighted materials — which means that even valid fair-use creations (such as a Buffy-Twilight mash-up video) can wind up getting taken down. Using the DMCA in the past to deal with leaks got at least one company in trouble, said Jennifer Granick, director of civil liberties at the Stanford Center for Internet and Society. In 2003, a hacker broke into the servers of Diebold, Inc. and stole emails and files related to security flaws in the company’s voting machines. When graduate students reposted the files, Diebold served them with DMCA takedown notices. The students countersued the company for serving false notices, claiming Diebold didn’t actually have copyright over the material. Diebold lost the case, with a judge saying the company “materially misrepresented that Plaintiffs infringed Diebold’s copyright interest.” After a hack, most companies send “nasty letters that mention copyright” rather than DMCA takedown notices to the websites hosting the material, said Higgins. After Sony Pictures was hacked, for example, its lawyer sent a letter to media publications asking them not to use the stolen information saying that the files were Sony Pictures’ “intellectual property” — more gently invoking copyright concerns. Sony Pictures’ hacked information, though, was released via torrents, meaning there was no central website to which the lawyers could send a takedown notice. If the distribution of Ashley Madison’s files becomes decentralized like that, a DMCA notice will no longer work as a way to stop the distribution. “In terms of effectiveness, the DMCA makes it momentarily harder to get access to the leaked information, but Ashley Madison won’t be able to DMCA every copy of this on the internet,” said Higgins. “Ashley Madison is in cornered-animal mode, and they are using every tool they can.”
  7. I have now issued this period's referrals. For the second time this year members with left over unused referrals have been allowed to carry them over to this period in addition to the new referrals issued, this won't happen often however or after the next review which is expected to be around the 2nd week in September. 8. Taylor Swift has been nominated for nine MTV Video Music Awards. The 25-year-old singer led the pack when the potential honorees were announced on Tuesday ahead of the ceremony taking place in Los Angeles on August 30. Among her nods were Video of the Year for the star-studded Bad Blood, while her video for Blank Space is nominated in both the Best Female Video and Best Pop Video categories. Other stars to feature heavily in the nominations included Taylor's close friend Ed Sheeran. The British pop star, who recently performed three sell-out gigs at the world famous Wembley Stadium in London, received six nods including one for Best Male Performance for Thinking Out Loud as well as Best Choreography. Ed and Taylor will be battling it out in the Best Pop Video segment, with Thinking Out Loud and Blank Space respectively. But the pair have some tough competition from Beyoncé for 7/11, Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars for Uptown Funk and Maroon 5 for Sugar. Other notable nominees for the event include Robert Pattinson's rumoured fiancée FKA Twigs, who features in the #VMAs Artists to Watch category alongside George Ezra, James Bay, Fetty Wap and Vance Joy. The nomination announcement comes after it was revealed on Monday that Miley Cyrus will be hosting the awards. The 22-year-old singer is certainly no stranger to the event, and famously caused a worldwide scandal with her twerking during a performance of Blurred Lines with Robin Thicke at the 2013 ceremony. Miley cinfirmed the hosting news by posting a picture of herself dressed as an alien on Instagram. In the shot she is seen holding two sandwich boards. One reads: 'MTV won't let me perform', while the other states: 'So I'm hosting the VMAs'. MTV Video Music Awards 2015 nominations: Best Collaboration Taylor Swift feat. 10. Following the release of Short Movie 'Director's Cut', an expanded edition of Laura Marling's critically acclaimed fifth album, 'Short Movie', today sees the unveiling of the stunning video to accompany a brand new full band re-working of popular live track 'I Feel Your Love'. A London Forum show is also set to take place on Saturday 5 September in between a full US tour in July & August and Australian dates in October. The gigs will showcase the full band dynamic, which has inspired the Director's Cut re-worked tracks Co-Directed by Cherise Payne and Laura Marling herself the video for 'I Feel Your Love' perfectly illustrates what Marling describes as the 'alchemical change that occurs within a musical group when you add a new brain or flavor to it'. Director's Cut was inspired by the re-recording of two tracks from 'Short Movie' 'I Feel Your Love' and 'Warrior' and progressed even further the development showcased on the album. Short Movie marked a chapter in which Laura's sound and her recordings moved towards a more expansive and electric feel resulting in a much freer and looser sounding album than anything she has done before. In addition Director's Cut also features Daisy and David from the original recordings and previously only available on 7'. Marling explains the influences behind the re-recordings and the subsequent Director's Cut reissue of the album: 'The addition of new guitarist Pete's style of playing combined with a lack of need to be delicate for the sake of hearing strings led to the tone becoming thicker and grittier. And as an unexpected result, we discovered that we like sticky rhythms...and seem to speak a similar language in rhythm and tone, it's a very special quite rare thing!' The album will be available digitally via: add link Full tracklisting as below below: 1. Warrior 2. False Hope 3. I Feel Your Love 4. Walk Alone 5. Strange 6. Don't Let Me Bring You Down 7. Easy 8. 11. Cara Delevingne allegedly hasn't split with her musician girlfriend, despite reports. Earlier today it was claimed that Cara and St. Vincent, real name Annie Clark, had gone their separate ways for the second time since April. However a source close to the model-turned-actress has blasted the gossip, insisting the pair couldn't be in a better place. "They're still together and very happy. Everyone seems to want them to split up - but the fact is Annie is in Europe on tour and Cara is working in the States," an insider told MailOnline. "They couldn't be happier and the latest reports are yet again just ridiculous." Cara and St. Vincent first sparked romance rumours when they were spotted together at a Brits after-party in February. In a candid interview in last month's Vogue magazine, Cara happily revealed how settled she was with the singer. 'I think that being in love with my girlfriend is a big part of why I'm feeling so happy with who I am these days. And for those words to come out of my mouth is actually a miracle," she said. "It took me a long time to accept the idea [of my sexuality], until I first fell in love with a girl at 20 and recognised that I had to accept it." Prior to her relationship with St. Vincent, Cara was linked to actress Michelle Rodriguez. In June Michelle spoke about her admiration for Cara's Vogue interview. "I think that's beautiful. God bless. The Vogue thing... I thought that was so cool. She is lovely," she gushed to British newspaper Metro. In 2013 Cara was also linked to Harry Styles.

Roger Waters The Wall, Directed by Roger Waters and Sean Evans, had its premiere at last year's Toronto Film Festival and is described by critics as "nothing short of breath-taking" and "visually magnificent.' In cinemas for one night only on Tuesday 29 September, Roger Waters The Wall also features The Simple Facts; an exclusive in-conversation with Roger Waters and Nick Mason, where the Pink Floyd rhythm section will reunite over the breaking of bread and the answering of questions sent in by fans. 25 years on, set in this brand new breath-taking format, the concept and message of Roger Waters The Wall remains just as relevant. 14. Miley Cyrus announced her MTV VMAs hosting duties while dressed as a green alien. The 22-year-old We Can't Stop songstress put on a history-making performance with Robin Thicke at the fun awards ceremony in 2013. But this year she won't be onstage as a guest performing act, as she has been dubbed the host of the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards. 'F**k yeah VMAs!!!!! #VMAs on @MTV Aug 30 at 9pm,' Miley wrote on Instagram Monday July 20 attached to a picture of herself holding signs while wearing a green extraterrestrial costume. During the 2013 MTV VMAs, Miley teamed up with singer Robin Thicke to perform a duet of his song Blurred Lines onstage. The pair put on a raucous show, as Miley was twerk dancing with giant teddy bears while stripping down to a nude bikini, grinding against Robin and kissing him on the neck. Giant foam fingers and wagging tongues also caused a stir during the infamous performance. But last year the Wrecking Ball pop star showed up to the VMAs in an entirely different context. She was accompanied at the 2014 ceremony by transient Jesse Helt, now 23 years old, who accepted her award for Video of the Year and read the star's acceptance speech in a bid to raise awareness for youth homelessness. "I've survived in shelters all over... Though I may have been invisible to you in the streets, I have a lot of the same dreams that brought many of you here tonight," he told millions while accepting Miley's award, while she sat in the audience with tears in her eyes. "A dream you dream alone is only a dream. A dream you dream together is reality."
  15. Speaking to Capital's Toby Tarrant on Capital, Little Mix's Jade Thirlwall was quizzed on whos the naughtiest when it comes to public displays of affection... Jesy Nelson and her fiance Jake Roche from Rixton or Perrie Edwards and her man Zayn Malik? Jesy gets dropped in it but Jade confirms it's 'not in an annoying way', and that she actually quite admires them for it!
  16. Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton's divorce is officially complete. The pair announced on Monday July 20 they had called it quits on their marriage after being wed for four years. And a source tells Us Weekly just hours after Miranda and Blake revealed their union is over, a judge in Oklahoma signed off on their divorce. Although it's claimed Blake filed legal documents to end their marriage well ahead of their split announcement, it normally takes a few months for divorces to be officially granted in court. Sources tell Radar Online the pair are handling their breakup very differently. It's claimed Blake has been boozing through the pain of his divorce, with the country singer even calling attention to his alcohol consumption via Twitter on July 17, three days ahead of the split announcement. 'Good news! I can see clearly!! AND Cheyenne I'm headed for you!!! Actually my vision may be a little blurred by the end of the night. B***h,' he tweeted. Meanwhile Miranda is currently performing shows as part of her Platinum Tour. 'Miranda is doing well right now and focusing on her music and her animals,' a source told Radar Online. The country singers married in May 2011 after meeting in 2005. In their joint statement, Miranda and Blake said the divorce was something they had never envisioned in their future. 'This is not the future we envisioned," their representatives said in a statement to the Associated Press. "And it is with heavy hearts that we move forward separately. We are real people, with real lives, with real families, friends and colleagues. Therefore, we kindly ask for privacy and compassion concerning this very personal matter." This is Blake's second divorce, as he was once married to longtime girlfriend Kaynette Gern, until they split after three years of marriage in 2006.
  17. Donald Trump's star may be on the rise among those running for the Republican Presidential nomination, but he may need a bit of a boost in Iowa where he ran nine points behind Scott Walker in today's caucus. To boost his image, Trump is scheduled to be at the Iowa State Fair on August 15 with one of his jobs for the day being the introduction of Def Leppard at their concert. Trump being involved with their show is not sitting well with guitarist Viv Campbell, who posted on his Facebook: Campbell's Facebook page has been a hotbed of controversy since he made his statement. The majority are in favor of his position but there is a vocal group who have attacked the guitarist over his view or even whether he should be involved in political opinion. Campbell has been fighting Hodgkin's Lymphoma since 2013 and has just recently seen it make a resurgence in his system. He has worked with doctors to allow him to be treated while still being on tour with the band.
  18. Cara Delevingne reportedly split up with St. Vincent just weeks ago. The 22-year-old model was first romantically linked to the 32-year-old musician, real name Anne Clark, in late February and Cara confirmed in a recent interview with Vogue that the pair are indeed an item. But Page Six reports their brief romance has ended once again, with sources telling the outlet their split is 'recent'. Cara last appeared on St. Vincent's Instagram account around two weeks ago. However it seems the supermodel-turned-actress has wiped out all photographic memories of St. Vincent from her own account. As of Monday July 20, there isn't a single trace of the indie rock songwriter on Cara's Instagram. Cara recently told American Vogue how much she loves St. Vincent, speaking in the magazine's July 2015 issue. 'I think that being in love with my girlfriend is a big part of why I'm feeling so happy with who I am these days. And for those words to come out of my mouth is actually a miracle,' the star noted. Although they've only been dating for five months, Cara and St. Vincent have already broken up once before, with rumours they called off their romance back in April. During her Vogue interview, Cara noted women always seem to break her heart. 'Women are what completely inspire me, and they have also been my downfall. I have only been hurt by women, my mother first of all,' she said.
  19. Songwriter Wayne Carson, whose long list of credits run from rock classics like The Letter to the country crossover smash Always on My Mind, died earlier today (Monday, July 20) after a long illness at the age of 73. Carson was born in Denver, Colorado to two professional musicians. The family moved a number of times before settling down in Springfield, MO where Wayne's father, Shorty Thompson, became part of the Tall Timber Boys. Even though his family was more involved with country music, Carson was drawn to the emerging rock scene and, as a teen, formed a number of bands who played around the midwest. In 1962, he moved to Nashville but, by the middle of the decade, returned home to Springfield where he started working with promoter and publisher Si Siman. Siman was a friend of Chet Atkins and brought a song written by Carson, Somebody Like Me, to his attention. Atkins, in turn, presented it to Eddy Arnold who recorded it and took the song to the top of the country charts in 1966. The next year, Carson moved from country to pop music, penning the number 1 Box Tops hit The Letter. He would have a long relationship with the group who would also have hits with Wayne's Neon Rainbow and Soul Deep. During the 70's and 80's Carson had numerous hits on the Country Singles chart including four number 1's but his signature song would become a top twenty hit for four different artists. Always on My Mind was first released by Brenda Lee but it was Elvis Presley who had the first hit with the song, hitting the top ten in the U.K. in 1972, and reentering the U.K. top twenty in both the 1990's and the 2000's. John Wesley Ryles then went to number 20 in 1979 on the Country Singles. The biggest version, by Willie Nelson, was released in 1982, topping the Country Singles and going top five on both the Hot 100 and the Adult Contemporary charts. Finally, the Pet Shop Boys took a dance version to number 4 on the Hot 100 and number 1 in England. 20. Dave Black, the guitarist for UK band Goldie, has died after being struck by a train in Cullercoats in the North East England on Saturday night. Goldie had a no 7 hit in the UK in 1978 with the song 'Making Up Again'. Black co-wrote the song with singer Pete McDonald. Tributes for Black include words from Duran Duran's Andy Taylor who credits Dave with helping him start out in the music industry. 'I was having a lot of problems at school, and he was an incredible guitar player ' he joined the Spiders From Mars when Mick Ronson left,' Taylor told the Chronicle. 'He was my neighbour, lived just across the road when we moved to St George's Road near the train station. 'I knocked on his door one day, his brother Michael was a drummer, and I said I wanted to learn the stuff I didn't know, some of the scales and the more complicated chords.' Andy Taylor's first eight music lessons were from Dave Black. Police have no released any further details of the death of Black at this stage. https://youtu.be/0bRlInahcZQ

  22. Miranda Lambert didn't tell her mother she had split from Blake Shelton, it has been claimed. The 31-year-old and her fellow country singer spouse announced their plans to divorce after four years of marriage on Monday. But the news hasn't just come as a surprise to fans, it's also been a shock for members of their family. 'I have no idea what you're talking about,' Miranda's mother Beverly Lambert reportedly told Radar Online when contacted about the divorce news. 'They didn't tell me!' Over the years Beverly has been seen as one of Miranda's closest confidants. But as the outlet added that Blake reportedly filed for divorce months ago, it seems the couple have kept their break-up a secret from their loved ones for a long time. Radar also reports a judge is set to make a decision on the divorce this week. Meanwhile a source close to Blake, 39, revealed the star still loved his estranged spouse despite being the one to file the papers. The insider, who works closely with the singer on the US version of The Voice, told Extra that rumours of Blake being unfaithful during his marriage were not true because he had never cheated on Miranda. They added that Blake always made sure to have 'out time' from the programme so he could go home and spend quality time with his wife, who he was devoted to. In their joint statement, Miranda and Blake said the divorce was something they had never envisioned in their future. 'It is with heavy hearts that we move forward separately,' they said. 'We are real people, with real lives, with real families, friends and colleagues. Therefore we kindly ask for privacy and compassion concerning this very personal matter.'

  24. Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert are to divorce, it has been confirmed. The country singers married in May 2011 after meeting in 2005. But on Monday, the couple confirmed that they were calling time on their union. 'This is not the future we envisioned," their representatives said in a statement to the Associated Press. "And it is with heavy hearts that we move forward separately. We are real people, with real lives, with real families, friends and colleagues. Therefore, we kindly ask for privacy and compassion concerning this very personal matter." Blake, 39, and Miranda tied the knot in a star studded Texas ceremony witnessed by famous faces including Katherine Heigl, Reba McEntire, Cee Lo Green and Kelly Clarkson. While the couple have no children together, the news marks the second divorce for Blake, who was previously married to Kaynette Williams from 2003 to 2006. The star has spoken in the past about how he met the 31-year-old and his instant attraction to her despite his marriage to Kaynette. 'I was a married guy, you know, standing up there going, 'Man, this shouldn't be happening,'" he said about the duet concert on Miranda's Behind the Music special on VH1. "Looking back on that, I was falling in love with her right there onstage." However the couple always maintained that they didn't begin their relationship until his marriage to Kaynette was over. Blake was the one to file the divorce papers in Oklahoma, according to TMZ after the couple were last seen in public together on July 3.
