  1. Kevin Smith did not receive an invitation to attend the upcoming roast of Bruce Willis. Many expected the director - who openly discussed his unfavorable experience working with Willis - to be a part of the event. Smith has replied in his typical sarcastic fashion. According to Smith, before the director worked with Willis on Cop Out in 2010, Smith had been a huge fan of the action star. But his experience working with Willis was famously negative. Smith first tried not to call out Willis by name, merely hinting that one of the actors in the film "wouldn't even sit" for a photo shoot while implying that the troublesome actor was not Tracey Morgan. Smith was later quoted warning fans not to meet their heroes. This incident made Smith a prime candidate for the roast in many's eyes. The bad blood coupled with Smith's comedic abilities seemed like a lock. Well, not so much. Smith did not receive an invitation to the upcoming Comedy Central roast, a fact that did not go unnoticed by his fans. In true fashion, the director took to Twitter to comment on the apparent slight by referencing the very film that led to their falling out. Smith first noted that he doesn't actually like to make fun of other people. He also admitted that he didn't mind skipping the event entirely. But he couldn't help but make a jab at Willis for not allowing Smith the option, calling the decision a "cop out." Read the full tweet below: Twitter Ads info and privacy Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who played a younger version of Willis' character in 2012's Looper, is set to host the event. Seven celebrities were added to the guest list yesterday, including Edward Norton, who co-starred in Wes Anderson's Moonrise Kingdom with Willis, Cybill Shepherd, Willis' Moonlighting co-star, and Kevin Pollack, who appeared with Willis in The Whole Nine Yards. Smith has had a rough time, recently. He suffered a heart attack in February after collapsing before a comedy event. AMC also recently announced their intention to cancel Smith's long-running cable series, Comic Book Men. The director has been taking things in stride, however. After his health scare, he adopted a vegan diet and has successfully and proudly lost a lot of weight in the process. In lieu of the series, Smith's attention has been spent resurrecting his popular characters Jay and Silent Bob. The characters recently reunited on an episode of The Flash and will be featured in an upcoming VR series.
  2. Vin Diesel's upcoming film Bloodshot has added Game of Thrones actor Johannes Haukur Johannesson to its growing cast. Johannesson had a short stint on the popular HBO series during season six. Now he is taking on a role in the latest comics to film adaptation featuring Diesel. Johannesson appeared on two episodes of Game of Thrones. The actor played Lem Lemoncloak in season six episodes "The Broken Man" and "No One." Following his time on Thrones, Johannesson appeared in the 2017 film Atomic Blonde and two episodes of the BBC America series The Last Kingdom. The actor has a slew of projects lined up in the future, including a role in Alpha, due out in theaters this August. Now Johannesson can add to his growing list of credits a role in Bloodshot. According to The Wrap, Johannesson will be playing a villain in the film, which is slated to begin filming in July. This will be the first film to feature Diesel in a live-action superhero role. The project will also reunite Diesel with Fast and Furious producer Neal Moritz. It will be the first time the pair work together outside of the high-speed franchise. Founder of DMG Entertainment, Dan Mintz, will serve as executive producer. Bloodshot found great success following its debut in 1992. Created by Kevin Van Hook, Don Perlin and Bob Layton the series amassed 110 issues with more than 7.5 million copies sold via publisher Valiant. The story follows a mortally wounded soldier brought back to life with the use of cutting-edge nanotechnology. He is then tasked with rounding up super-powered outcasts known as “harbingers.” The film, directed by Dave Wilson, will follow the form of more mature superhero films the likes of Logan and Deadpool. This will mark Diesel's return to his genre roots. Prior to his role in the Fast and Furious franchise, Diesel was known for his hard-hitting roles in xXx and Pitch Black. He was 2017's top-grossing actor at the box office, bringing in $1.6 billion in global ticketing receipts. A film starring Diesel is sure to give Johannesson's growing career a huge boost. Just as with Toby Kebbell - who might well be up teaming with Johannesson in the film as both are playing villains - this new project grows the actor's reach in the entertainment industry. Johannesson has a long list of future projects in store, with some debuting in just a few months. But the boost he may get to his career following Bloodshot's release could very well lead to even greater recognition, more high-profile projects, and more leading roles.
  3. Sonic the Hedgehog has its villain and it's none other than Jim Carrey. Paramount is moving full speed ahead with a live-action/CGI hybrid movie starring one of SEGA's biggest characters. Sonic the Hedgehog has been around for nearly thirty years, but has yet to receive a live-action take on the big screen. Paramount has not slowed down the film since gaining the rights late last year. It's being produced by Deadpool's Tim Miller and directed by Jeff Fowler, and now the cast is starting to fill out. James Marsden snagged the lead role in Sonic as a cop who befriends Sonic on his solo adventure. There were reportedly several other actors in the mix, but the Westworld star came out victorious. The film has since added Ride Along's Tika Sumpter as the female lead. No voice actor has been revealed yet for the leading blue hedgehog, but we now know who'll take on the role of his archenemy. Deadline reports Jim Carrey is heading back to the big screen, and is in talks to play Dr. Ivo Robotnik aka Doctor Eggman in Sonic the Hedgehog. This will be the comedic legend's first major blockbuster in a number of years. His more recent theatrical work worth mentioning includes The Bad Batch, Dumb and Dumber To, and Kick-Ass 2. None of these films were terribly successful, so Sonic gives Carrey a role that will hopefully reach the masses, and possibly restore a bit of his old movie star sheen. Throughout Robotnik's many appearances in various Sonic materials, his look has largely remained the same. His egg-like figure, bald head, giant mustache, and red and gold jacket help make up his trademark aesthetic. Carrey's appearance is much different than that, so this could either be quite the transformation for him to undergo, or a signal that fans of the character and property should be prepared for some alterations to be made. Regardless of how Carrey looks while playing Doctor Eggman, it's a role that could allow his naturally goofy nature to shine - especially if he transforms his appearance to match the villain's classic look. While Carrey is much more than just a comedian at this point, that is an aspect to his career that many would like to see more of. Sonic could give him the chance to play a zany, over-the-top villain, while also giving the project a big name talent. How well it plays on the screen remains to be seen, but Paramount is certainly aiming high as they finish casting Sonic the Hedgehog.
  4. Legendary has acquired the movie rights to Animosity. Written by Marguerite Bennett and drawn by Rafael de Latorre, this acclaimed comic book series is published by AfterShock. Animosity takes place in a world where the animals have woken up, as in thinking and speaking, but more to the point, understanding. Although this is every animal lover’s dream in theory, in actuality, everything descends into chaos when many of these creatures seek vengeance. While the story confronts the unsettling reality of animal cruelty across the globe, at its core Animosity is about eleven-year-old Jesse, and her forever faithful pooch, Sandor, traveling cross-country in search of help. The series is an incredibly compelling coming of age story set in a dystopian world, that somehow manages to find the humor, as well as the heartache. Not much has been revealed yet, beyond Legendary’s announcement of obtaining the film rights. What is known is that the project will be produced by AfterShock President Lee Kramer, as well as CEO Jon Kramer. Legendary’s Jon Silk will oversee the project. AfterShock Comics launched in 2015 and quickly become known for publishing quality creator-owned comics. Legendary is responsible for such blockbusters as Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and Pacific Rim: Uprising. Although the latter fell short of expectations, the former has already passed the $700 million mark at the box office. Debuting in 2016, Animosity was a success both critically and commercially, and has since spun off another ongoing series, Animosity: Evolution, as well as a miniseries, Animosity: The Rise. Both are also written by Bennett, with art by Eric Gapstur and Juan Doe, respectively. Bennett created one of AfterShock’s first projects, InSeXts, but has also worked for Marvel, DC and other indie publishers on projects as varied as A-Force, Batwoman and Red Sonja. As with adapting any beloved ongoing series into a feature film, there is the concern of faithfully rendering many issues of source material into a single movie. Aside from that, it’s likely going to be a fairly difficult transition from page to screen. Bennett tells a gorgeous and heartrending story amidst a horrifying - and at times hilarious - backdrop. In perfect harmony with the words, de Latorre’s art expertly conveys the love between a young girl and her dog, as well as the many emotions of creatures great and small. The story might be better served as a TV series. It’s ultimately too early to speculate too much though, as so few details are available. Legendary has proven itself capable of making great movies and with AfterShock’s CEO and President onboard as producers, it would seem this excellent comic is in good hands.
  5. Power Rangers actress Naomi Scott is reportedly set to star in Sony Pictures' upcoming Charlie's Angels movie reboot, from Pitch Perfect 2 director Elizabeth Banks. The movie is set for release in summer 2019 and was supposed to start filming in April of this year, though the cameras have started just rolling yet. Charlie's Angels, which originally aired as a TV show in the 1970s, has since been rebooted twice: first, and most famously, in the movies starring Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz and Lucy Liu; and then later as a very short-lived TV show on ABC. Now the angels are once again flying down to kick ass and take names in another big-screen reboot - and it looks like the movie has found its third angel. That Hashtag Show reports that Scott is set to star in Charlie's Angels alongside Kristen Stewart, while Lupita Nyong'o is still in talks for the movie. The report also says that the filming start date has been pushed back to September, and that the movie is expected to wrap in January 2019. Production will take place in Berlin. In addition to directing the movie, Banks will also be playing a gender-flipped Bosley - though we don't yet know who will be providing voiceover for the famous (and elusive) Charlie. The script for the movie was originally written by Evan Spiliotopoulos, then later rewritten by playwright David Auburn, then rewritten again by Narcos co-creators Carlo Bernard and Doug Miro. Scott's star has been rising fast over the past couple of years. In addition to playing Kimberly a.k.a. the Pink Ranger in Power Rangers, she's also playing Princess Jasmine in Disney's upcoming live-action remake of Aladdin, which recently wrapped filming. Unfortunately for those who grew attached to Scott's rebellious teenage superhero in Power Rangers, we're unlikely to see her return in a sequel, as Hasbro acquired the rights to Power Rangers earlier this year, and has since confirmed plans for a movie reboot. The 2000 movie reboot of Charlie's Angels was a modest box office success, and enough time has passed now that it's become a fun piece of nostalgia in its own right. With the right mix of action, humor and cheesiness, Banks' reboot could be a serious contender at the box office next summer.
  6. Venom gets the spoofed trailer treatment, and it's quite the strange piece of business. The trailer for Venom is the latest to receive a very weird remake form Aldo Jones Studios. With a plethora of off the wall jokes and other added material, this new version of the widely popular trailer is sure to entertain. Released in April, the official trailer for Venom gave fans the first chance to see Tom Hardy in action as powerful, symbiote-infected host Eddie Brock, a character destined to become the archenemy of Spider-Man. Fans of the character and Marvel comics alike have been anxiously awaiting the film's release, and any looks into the film they can get. Venom, one of the most unpredictable and dangerous entities in all of Marvel Comics, has inhabited several hosts throughout Spider-Man's printed history, his most famous of course being Brock, who the film's origin story centers on. The release of the trailer for Sony's upcoming film attracted so much attention that it has since become the most viewed trailer in Spider-Man movie history. Created and uploaded to YouTube by Aldo Jones, the above very weird effort is a whole new way to enjoy the official trailer for Venom, and true to its name, is really quite odd. Opening with Joe Pesci and Jim Carrey, the spoofed trailer progresses into a montage of Venom's trailer mixed with almost everything possible. Peter Parker (Toby Maguire) is sprinkled throughout, bringing the two fierce rivals face to face once again. Beyond the humorous utilization of comic book continuity, the spoofed trailer incorporates various Marvel characters, snapchat filters, sound effects and memes - just to name a few aspects - making the already widely popular trailer arguably that much more entertaining. Jones doesn't hesitate to get crazy with things, and the reckless abandon is appreciated. Venom is not the first time Aldo Jones has spoofed a trailer to bring humor to fans - and it certainly won't be the last. Since May of 2011, Jones has entertained a countless number of individuals with his bloopers and spoofs. Primarily focused on, but not limited to, spoofing trailers for upcoming Marvel films, Jones has modified trailers for Avengers Infinity War, Justice League, Captain America: Civil War and Deadpool. These delightfully wacked out trailers have been so successful, views have racked up into the millions. As long as Marvel and DC films continue to be made, one can bet that more of Jones' weirdly spoofed trailers will follow, and fans will continue to love watching them as they not-so-patiently wait for the actual release dates of those films to arrive. It remains to be seen how the next very weird trailer will manage to top the hilarious "Simba Yacht" joke seen above, but it seems certain that Jones will at least attempt to do so.
  7. A Quiet Place producer Andrew Form says John Krasinski will definitely be involved with the sequel, which is now in development. The former star of the U.S. version of The Office directed, cowrote, and produced the horror/thriller, in addition to starring as one of the four main characters in the film. Paramount announced that it has set to work on A Quiet Place 2 back at CinemaCon in April, but refrained from revealing the creatives that are involved with the sequel, much less anything about the movie's plot. Given what happens to Krasinski's character near the end of A Quiet Place, it's safe to assume he won't appear in the followup unless A Quiet Place 2 takes place at the same time or before the first movie. Krasinski, for his part, has discussed some of his ideas for the sequel before, and mentioned that A Quiet Place 2 could focus on other survivors in the world overrun by sound-sensitive monsters established by its predecessor. However, the actor/filmmaker has declined to confirm his involvement with the project, up until this point. Form recently spoke to Collider as part of the promotional campaign for A Quiet Place's Blu-ray release next month, and told the site that Krasinski is "definitely involved" with the sequel. However, he also indicated that it might be awhile before there's a firm update on A Quiet Place 2, since he and the sequel's other creatives are taking their time to figure its story out: “It’s such a special movie to us, the experience and everything. It’s easy to rush these and we’ve made movies in the past where we’ve rushed them through and we’ve felt it, and we just don’t wanna do it on this one. We really don’t. We really just wanna take our time and as long as it takes, it takes. It hasto be the right story, just like the first one. It just has to be.” There are certainly many directions that Krasinski and his collaborators could take on A Quiet Place 2. They could elect to make the franchise into an anthology series (a la fellow Paramount franchise Cloverfield), where each film takes place in the same universe, but focuses on different characters and story genres. Alternatively, A Quiet Place 2 could pick up some time after the ending of the first movie, which set the stage for humankind to fight back against the world's monstrous invaders. Whatever form A Quiet Place 2 takes, it's good to know the sequel isn't being rushed down the pipeline in order to make a release date. It's similarly encouraging to hear that Krasinski is involved in some capacity, whatever his role in the film's development winds up being. Many horror properties lend themselves to quick turn-around periods between installments and having different filmmakers come in and experiment with their essence (see slasher franchises like Halloween, for example), but A Quiet Place doesn't really feel like one of them. A Quiet Place is now available in Digital HD. It will be released on Blu-ray on Tuesday, July 10.
  8. Paul Rudd may have just spoiled the post-credits scene for Ant-Man and the Wasp. After appearing in Captain America: Civil War, Rudd's Scott Lang was restricted from appearing in Avengers: Infinity War due to being on house arrest. The upcoming Ant-Man sequel will explain that absence as the movie takes place around the same time as Infinity War. While Ant-Man and The Wasp's timeline has been known for a while, the exact specifics of how it would tie into Infinity War haven't been made clear. This was until Rudd accidentally (or purposefully?) partially revealed what the sequel's post-credits scene will be about. In an interview on Late Night with Seth Meyers, Paul Rudd talked about being excluded from Infinity War and how Ant-Man and The Wasp ties into the MCU at large. Rudd explained: "People have asked me about [Ant-Man and The Wasp] and this, I don't know if I'm supposed to say it but I'll say it, it happens kind of concurrently. It's very important because it doesn't exist in a vacuum. You have to stay through the end because when you see this thing, through those post-credit scenes, there's mind-blowing stuff that ties into Infinity War." Rudd finished by cutting himself over and saying, maybe facetiously, that he messed up. Rudd's information about the end of Ant-Man and The Wasp could definitely qualify as a spoiler. It's just unclear how big of a spoiler it is. It's not too shocking that Ant-Man and The Wasp will save their Infinity War connection for the end of the movie. Even though the two are taking place at roughly the same time, Ant-Man and The Wasp can't focus too much on Infinity War's events and still keep their movie going. Throughout the sequel, the most that can be expected is some background newscasts or references to Thanos' invasion... if anything at all. Rudd's reveal probably means that the post-credits scene of Ant-Man and The Wasp will line up directly with the ending of Infinity War. As everyone who has seen the third Avengers movie knows that the film ends with Thanos winning and wiping out half of all life in the universe with a snap of his fingers. If Ant-Man 2's post-credits scene truly is "mind-blowing," it's likely at least one important character will be turn to dust with Thanos' snap. It's a little preposterous to speculate who could be the victim, there may be even multiple victims. However, Hank Pym and/or Scott Lang's daughter, Cassie, are some pretty good options for dusting candidates. They would be causes for the most emotional turmoil. The two characters that probably won't fall victim to Thanos are the title heroes. Ant-Man and Wasp are both confirmed for Avengers 4, so no one really expects all the deaths of Avengers: Infinity War to stick but it would be a huge spoiler for them to survive the movie. The news of them being in Avengers 4 has been out for months. Paul Rudd might've spoke out of turn when talking about his movie's post-credit sequence but it doesn't seem anywhere as big as the titanic spoilers that Tom Holland has dropped about the Spider-Man films. All audiences really know now is that Ant-Man and The Wasp's post-credits scene will have a direct connection to Avengers: Infinity War and possibly Avengers 4.
  9. Rafe Spall lines up another blockbuster with Sony's Men in Black spinoff. Its been six years since Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones made Men in Black 3, and Sony is looking to keep the franchise going without them. The once considered crossover with their Jump Street franchise fizzled out, bringing them into full reboot mode. The Fate of the Furious director F. Gary Gray is taking control of the new film and Sony's giving him a great ensemble. Chris Hemsworth is leaving his MCU role as Thor behind to suit up in a different way and will be the star on the Men in Black film. Co-starring with Hemsworth is his fellow Thor: Ragnarok star Tessa Thompson. Both will be agents at the London headquarters for the mysterious government agency, which is being led by none other than Liam Neeson. Casting is still ongoing, though, and Sony is adding one of the cast members from Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. THR reports Rafe Spall is joining the Men in Black spinoff in an unspecified role. He is fresh off a villainous turn in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, which is dominating the box office. Spall has also recently appeared in The Ritual on Netflix, Steven Spielberg's The BFG, and Adam McKay's Oscar-winner The Big Short. He isn't the only new addition though, as dancing twins Laurent Nicolas Bourgeois and Larry Nicolas Bourgeois will also appear. There's currently no word on any of these roles, but this could be another villainous turn for Spall. The core agents have all been cast to this point and he's the first one to join that doesn't have a direct role linked. His character may not have been the best part of Fallen Kingdom, but Spall is certainly capable of delivering a better antagonistic turn. That could just be the case under the watchful eye of F. Gary Gray. The Bourgeois twins though have extremely limited acting experience, but their dancing abilities could be utilized for alien movements perhaps. With these three additions now confirmed, Men in Black's cast is truly starting to take shape. The film was originally scheduled to already be in production by this point, but there's been no indication that stayed true. Considering the cast is still being finalized and there has yet to be an announcement that filming began, it appears there's been a slight delay. It was just recently that Kumail Nanjiani's role was confirmed as well, so Men in Black doesn't look to be quite ready for cameras to roll. With that being the case, it should be expected for a few other cast announcements to be made in the coming days and weeks.
  10. Mark Hamill hasn't actually talked to James Gunn about a role in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Over the last 10 years, Marvel Studios has been trying to snag some of the biggest names in Hollywood. Their comic book movie universe is filled with box office stars, Academy Award winners, and everything else imaginable. Thanks to the popularity of the universe, there's plenty of actors who want to get involved. It was just earlier this year after all that Luke Skywalker himself expressed interest in not just joining the MCU, but Hamill specifically has his eyes set on Guardians of the Galaxy. His interest was well documented on Twitter and led to a brief conversation with director James Gunn, which resulted in a meeting being scheduled. That happened about a month ago when Gunn and Hamill finally met up, but it wasn't clear if they actually discussed a possible collaboration in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. It appears they did not based on a new interview Hamill did with Collider. He was asked about the meeting and if a potential MCU future was part of the discussion, but Hamill says it never came up. In fact, Hamill appears to have cooled a bit on the idea altogether. "Well, actually, earlier when I had him down for a barbecue we didn't talk about the movie. We talked about living in Malibu, our relatives, pets, and it never really came up. But that's the way it should be, I don't want to strong arm him in any way. I love the movies, they're fun, but I'm happy to be in the audience. There's a lot less pressure." Hamill may be a bit of a showman, but he's also very honest. There's nothing else to do than take him at his word that he hasn't actually spoken to Gunn about Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. That doesn't mean that such a conversation won't happen down the road, though. Gunn just turned in another draft of the Guardians 3 script, so it's possible he found a role perfect for Hamill to play during the writing process. Even if that is the case, Hamill could still ultimately pass if he doesn't want the "pressure" of being in the MCU anymore. There's still plenty of time for a final decision on Hamill's possible involvement with Guardians 3 to be made too. Production is set to begin early next year, leaving the remaining six months of 2018 for pre-production. Depending on when Marvel starts the casting process, it may not be until right before the turn of the calendar year that Hamill could be announced. Then again, it's also possible they could attempt to keep his role a secret if it isn't too big, or Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 could come and go without Hamill. With the film all but officially confirmed to hit theaters May 2020, hopefully, fans won't have to wait that long to know for sure.
  11. Josh Brolin may have been pulled in too many comic book directions this year, but the actor promises his Cable will be even better when X-Force arrives. Though a film based on the X-Force team has been in the works for awhile, it was still surprising when the marketing for Deadpool 2 revealed the outfit would actually debut this year's movie. Along with introducing members Cable and Domino, a number of X-Force characters (as well as those from adjacent teams) popped up in the film, including Bedlam, Shatterstar, and Zeitgeist. But one of the film's biggest laughs came from killing most of the characters off before their first mission even began. X-Force may reintroduce the Deadpool 2 characters that died, and the credits scene for the latter movie proves how that could work. Using Cable's time travel tech, Wade went back to save Vanessa and Peter, meaning the rest of X-Force could have survived as well. Regardless, Deadpool, Domino, and Cable will all be back to lead the X-Force film and better explore the two new additions to the XCU. And when it comes to the actor behind Cable, the film will offer a chance at redemption. USA Today spoke with Josh Brolin about his new films Sicario: Day of the Soldado, and the conversation eventually turned to Deadpool 2 and X-Force. For Brolin, it took a little while to get into the character of Cable and it wasn't really until the film was complete that he and Ryan Reynolds began to mesh. "I do like the way it turned out. But I thought I could have been better. But then it clicked [on the press tour]. I got to know [Reynolds] better. I trust him more. And we started this volley where it was like, 'This is actually fun.'" Deadpool 2 and Brolin's Cable have received plenty of praise, but it's natural that the actor would have his own feelings about his performance. Perhaps the wildly different tones of Cable and Thanos proved harder to navigate, but Brolin believes X-Force will allow him a chance to shine now that he and Reynolds have a better report. "Thank God. Man. I literally want to redeem myself to myself. I want to do a better version of what I do." Not much is known about X-Force at this point, save for the three leads, but that will change soon. X-Force work will begin after Bad Time at El Royale, the film that writer/director Drew Goddard is currently in the midst of. But once it releases, X-Force will be a top priority. Fox will likely be especially eager to get it at as the buyout from Disney looms over the growth of the current X-Men universe. The Disney/Fox deal will be voted on at the end of next month, though it will take time for any effect to take place on the big screen. 2019 is packed with X-Men-related films, but Fox has all sorts of projects in the works. In all likelihood, 2020 will see X-Force arrive in what could be one of the last real, Fox Marvel films before the X-Men and Deadpool are slowly brought into the MCU
  12. Greta Gerwig may direct a Little Women movie adaptation that features multiple Oscar winners and Oscar nominees alike. Gerwig made her solo directorial debut on last year's Best Picture nominated coming of age dramedy Lady Bird, after years of collaborating as a writer/actor with Noah Baumbach on acclaimed indie films like Frances Ha and Mistress America. Sony originally recruited Gerwig to rewrite its developing Little Women film, but it seems the talented storyteller is on the verge of formally committing to helm the project too. Little Women, of course, is based on Louisa May Alcott's beloved novel (which was published in the 1860s) and focuses on the experiences of the March sisters (Amy, Beth, Jo, and Meg) as they come of age in early post-Civil War North America. Their story has been adapted for TV, film, and even musical theater over the years, with one of the best-known adaptations being Gillian Armstrong's 1994 movie starring Winona Ryder, Kirsten Dunst, Claire Danes, Susan Sarandon, and Christian Bale, among others name actors. It appears that Gerwig is eying a similarly star-studded cast for her own Little Women film adaptation. According to Variety, Oscar-winning machine Meryl Streep and fellow Academy Award winner Emma Stone are in talks for Gerwig's Little Women adaptation, along with the director's Lady Bird stars Saoirse Ronan and Timothée Chalamet. The outlet further reports that Ronan would play Jo (the protagonist of the story), with Stone playing Meg, Streep playing Marmee (the March family matriarch), and Chalamet appearing as Laurie Laurence (the love interest role that Bale played in the 1994 film). Florence Pugh (Lady Macbeth) is also in talks to play Amy in the adaptation. Assuming all of these pieces fall into place as anticipated, Gerwig is expected to set to work filming Little Women as soon as the second half of this year. That would set the film on its way to becoming an awards season contender in next year's race - or failing that, a prestigious end of year film release for Sony. Timing should work out nicely too, what with most of the film's cast either coming off shooting big projects (see Ronan in Mary Queen of Scots and Streep in Big Little Lies season 2) or part-way through their current ventures already (see Chalamet on on Netflix's now-filming The King). All in all, Gerwig sounds like a great pick to bring Little Women back to the big screen. The story hits upon many of the same coming of age themes that Gerwig has excelled at tackling in the past, and her attention to detail in realizing the settings of her movies (see Sacramento in Lady Bird, for example) would further serve the period drama well from a production design standpoint. With Gerwig at the helm and the cast she already has lined up, it's difficult to imagine Little Women not being something special when it hits theaters. We will bring you more information on Little Women as it becomes available.
  13. Disney has officially closed down DisneyToon Studios, the company's third animation studio after Walt Disney and Pixar Animation Studios. DisneyToon (which was originally called Disney MovieToons) has been around for three decades and produced nearly 50 feature films over the course of its run. The studio got its start with 1990's DuckTales the Movie: Treasure of the Lost Lamp, a theatrical release based on the DuckTales cartoon series that Disney aired from 1987-1990. After the release of Treasure of the Lost Lamp, DisneyToon started to focus its efforts on churning out direct-to-video sequels, prequels, and/or spinoffs to Disney Animation's biggest films, including Renaissance hits like Aladdin and The Lion King. That changed when John Lasseter took over as head of Disney/Pixar Animation in the mid-2000s, and effectively ended its low-cost approach to expanding the Mouse House's most beloved titles. Now, however, DisneyToons is being permanently shut down. IndieWire has the exclusive on DisneyToon Studios being closed, which will result in the layoff of 75 animators and staff members. A Disney spokesperson issued a statement on the news, announcing that “After much consideration, we have made the decision to end production activity and close Disneytoon Studios". It's not clear yet if the 75 employees in question will be offered new jobs with either Disney or Pixar Animation, or how Disney will be compensating them for their job loss. Despite the timing of this announcement, DisneyToon Studios' closure has reportedly been in the works for some time and is unrelated to the recent changes in leadership at Disney/Pixar Animation. It was recently announced that Lasseter will be stepping down from the studios at the end of 2018, in the wake of allegations that he sexually harassed Disney/Pixar's female employees and fostered an otherwise sexist working environment. Frozen director Jennifer Lee and Inside Out helmsman Peter Docter will now serve as the Chief Creative Officers of Disney and Pixar Animation, respectively. It's worth noting that DisneyToon did make some theatrical releases in the '90s (see A Goofy Movie) that have since gone on to become children's classics of the decade, for many people. Unfortunately, most of the studio's direct-to-video sequels, prequels, and spinoffs are considered rather subpar, and its more recent theatrical releases (see: the Planes movies) didn't gain much favor critically, either. With DisneyToon now shut down and both Disney and Pixar about to enter a new era, here's to hoping the future is brighter for the Mouse House's animation empire across the board.
  14. Given the success of Netflix’s new romantic comedy Set It Up, it’s no surprise that a potential sequel could be in the works. But despite the increasing buzz, a follow-up isn’t exactly a guarantee, at least according to a new report. Directed by Claire Scanlon and written by Katie Silberman, Set It Up premiered June 15 on Netflix. The romantic comedy stars Zoey Deutch - opposite Glen Powell - as an aspiring journalist in New York City. As the main characters attempt to set up their bosses, portrayed by Taye Diggs and Lucy Liu, each begins to think less about professional goals and more about personal happiness. With its sharp dialogue, endearing performances, and modern spin on genre tropes, Set It Up quickly became a trending topic and immediate hit for Netflix. Incidentally, the film’s momentum has sparked conversations about a potential sequel. In a recent interview with Variety, director Scanlon discussed her creative influences for Set It Up, and her aim to accurately present modern New York City. She and her producers have expressed interested in further developing their characters; however, Netflix currently has no immediate plans to proceed with a follow-up film, according to Matt Brodlie — the director of original film at Netflix. Instead, the streaming platform will reportedly gauge the long-term results before deciding to produce a second film. Set It Up is doing well so far with audiences and critics alike, and being on a streaming platform could give it substantial long-term life compared to releasing in theaters. Whereas a TV show like Stranger Things succeeded by word of mouth despite a relatively unknown cast, Set It Up has a rising star with its female lead, having previously starred in movies such as Everybody Wants Some!! and Why Him?, but this new film might earn her a new audience. While an immediate sequel may not be necessary, Brodlie says that Netflix is making a hard push into the romantic comedy space - and Set it Up's worldwide success proves to them that they are on the right track. And it's not like Netflix is averse to sequels; they've already commissioned a follow-up to David Ayer's Bright, for instance. Sure, Bright and Set it Up have practically nothing in common, but the idea that Netflix wants to retain certain stories and characters for the long haul could be indicative of their future plans as a distribution company.
  15. Thanos' battle armor returns in new promo art for Avengers 4. After years of teases, Josh Brolin delivered when it counted most. His role in Avengers: Infinity War radically changed the state of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, setting up exciting possibilities for the followup. Despite the insane levels of secrecy Avengers 4 has had, the anticipation has not been derailed. Fans don't even know the title yet, and won't until the end of the year, but a now steady release of concept art is keeping the conversation going. The unofficial marketing campaign started with promo art surfacing ahead of CineEurope that showed off the main team that Avengers 4 will assemble. More recently, though, a few new pieces have been discovered. Captain Marvel was a big focus of the first batch, with even some looks at the Brie Larson solo movie surfacing. Now, an array of new designs are out with a tease of Thanos' suiting up himself. Twitter user @ajdesigns0220 once again discovered fresh pieces of promo art for Avengers 4. Among the various designs is one featuring Thanos in his battle armor. This was used sparingly in Infinity War, so it appears Thanos will once again find need for the suit. Twitter Ads info and privacy From the very first time audiences saw Thanos on the big screen, he was wearing his battle armor. His attire was consistent through The Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Avengers: Age of Ultron. He started off wearing it for Infinity War, but took the protection off after defeating Hulk and acquiring the Space Stone. From that point on, Thanos relied on his natural DNA and the power of the Infinity Guantlet to protect him. When it comes to it then returning for Avengers 4, it should be a sign that the power opposing him could be greater even with smaller numbers. Thanos barely escaped Infinity War alive, after all, and the Avengers will be united to take him down this time. Thor is mightier than ever; Hulk may be smarter than ever if he's Professor Hulk as previously theorized; and Iron Man surely has upgraded his capabilities and clearly passed those along to War Machine. Captain Marvel - who Kevin Feige previously called the most powerful MCU character yet - is also joining the fight, as is Ant-Man (who could just be the key to it all). Captain America, Black Widow, Hawkeye/Ronin, Nebula, and Rocket are also still involved. Thanos may just need the extra protection and weapon that's been seen in previous art to try and finish Avengers 4 victorious again.
  16. https://youtu.be/EOuzyMt9Vxc A brand new teaser for FX’s upcoming Sons of Anarchy spinoff, Mayans M.C. is ready to move on from SAMCRO, as the familiar grim reaper tattoo worn by Jax Teller fades to black and is replaced by an image of the other motorcycle club. The new series has some big shoes to fill, as it’s taking over from one of the the network’s biggest hits ever in an attempt to capitalize on the enduring popularity of SoA, while at the same time establish its own unique identity that builds on the notoriety the Mayans managed to create in the original series. So far, that hasn’t been an easy road for the new series to travel. As with many pilots, Mayans M.C. has undergone reshoots and some roles have been recast during what was an extensive development and production period. Thankfully, the reshoots and recasting aren’t anything unusual, as even Sons of Anarchy underwent a similar retooling process before it launched all the way back in 2009. And with a cast that includes J.D. Pardo (Revolution), Edward James Olmos, Richard Cabral (Peppermint), and SoA cast member, Emilio Rivera as Marcus Alvarez, all the work seems more than worth it now that FX has put in a season order for the series with plans for it to premiere as part of the network’s fall 2018-19 lineup. As far as teasers go, the new one is about as forthcoming with actual footage from the series as the ones seen before. Titled ‘Backstory,’ the short video is part pun, part passing of the torch from one series to the next, all while the familiar Spanish rendition of The Rolling Stones' ‘Paint It Black’ plays. If nothing else, the teaser hints the show won’t forget about SAMCRO or the club’s history with Mayans entirely. What that relationship is going to look like when the show premieres is anyone’s guess. While it’s unlikely fans will see departed members of SAMCRO (unless Kurt Sutter calls in a favor for a flashback), like Jax (Charlie Hunnam) or Clay (Ron Perlman), it’s not outside the realm of possibility for Tig (Kim Coates), Chibs (Tommy Flanagan), Wendy (Drea de Matteo), or even Nero (Jimmy Smits) to make an appearance. Hopefully, Mayans M.C. will take some time to establish all the new characters before dipping its toe back in Sons of Anarchy’s lake, however. With a September premiere date announced, there’s a good chance we’ll be seeing full trailers for the series very soon. These smaller, bite-sized teasers have certainly established a familiar tone for the show, all while capitalizing on the popularity of the series that came before, but now it’s time to see what Mayans M.C. really has to offer. Mayans M.C. premieres Tuesday, September 4 @10pm on FX.
  17. Leaked Avengers 4 promotional artwork gives fans their best look yet at Captain America in next year's ensemble film. Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, Marvel Cinematic Universe's ultimate culminating film is set to wrap-up the franchise 22-movie arc as Earth's Mightiest Heroes battle Thanos possibly for the last time. And, of course, at the forefront of the fight is Steve Rogers alongside his original Avengers teammates. It's no secret that Captain America was a bit sidelined in Avengers: Infinity War as the focus was mostly on Iron Man's and Thor's journeys. But the Russos promise that the Star Spangled Avenger will be back on the spotlight (alongside Black Widow) as he has his own intense arc in the still-untitled Avengers movie. Despite that, Steve Rogers was still a hot topic thanks to his glorious facial hair - which fans really like. Unfortunately, if this promo artwork for Avengers 4 comes to fruition, it seems like the super soldier is back to his usual clean-shaven look. Courtesy of artist AJ Design, on Twitter is a marketing image of Steve Rogers for Avengers 4 without his beard... and wearing his classic costume. The photo may be familiar with some fans considering that it's the same one used in the previously leaked ensemble concept art, but since it's bigger and clearer, fans can now examine the picture more thoroughly. Aside from Cap's facial hair, another key talking point in the image is his brand new suit which chainmail design was actually incorporated in his ripped costume in Infinity War. Check it out below: Twitter Ads info and privacy It's best to not get too attached to Cap's suit though, as this is not the first time that promo art for the MCU featured him wearing the armor. A couple of merchandise for Captain America: Civil War featured Steve wearing his classic comic book uniform, but as fans know, it didn't make its big screen debut in the film. And since these artworks are not official first look releases from Marvel Studios, there's a good chance that this won't be Cap's present-day look which would be on top of him sporting his original costume at one point in the movie as revealed by previously leaked set photos. Having said that, it would be really cool for Evans to rock the textured suit. But instead of it being purely an aesthetic change, it would be a good notion to think that it might actually have something to do with Tony Stark using his tech to give it some practical use. After all, Tony is known for tinkering on his pals' armors, and since it seems like he's added some new features to Rhodey's War Machine suit, it makes sense that he also works on Steve's. At this point, it's still uncertain how much time has passed since the events of Infinity War when Avengers 4 picks up. Between the Avengers' time travel theories that might see the heroes go back and/or forward in time and Marvel Studios being so cagey about the movie, it's quite difficult to predict what will go down in the movie. The Russos, as well as the cast and crew of the much-anticipated blockbuster, are supposedly back to work with reshoots and additional filming scheduled to last through the whole summer. But if there's anything clear, the movie will feature the original six Avengers, alongside some of their surviving allies, as well as Captain Marvel and Ant-Man, attempt to save the universe from the predicament that Thanos left it in.
  18. Michael Moore's upcoming documentary film about Donald Trump and Roseanne Barr is officially titled Fahrenheit 11/9, a reference to Trump's election. While there have been - and will surely continue to be - many great feature-length documentaries made, it's pretty rare that a documentary filmmaker himself becomes a recognizable celebrity. Yet, that's exactly what happened to Michael Moore, for better or for worse. Due to his politically charged subject matter, Moore's work tends to be either championed or reviled by most, with little middle ground. Moore first gained fame via his 1989 feature debut Roger & Me, which looked at the dire economic impact the closing of several GM auto plants had on the director's hometown of Flint, Michigan. Moore's career really took off with his 2002 film Bowling for Columbine, which won him an Oscar, and took a harsh look at gun culture in America, a subject all the more relevant in the modern era of seemingly weekly mass shootings. Moore also holds an important record, as his 2004 film Fahrenheit 9/11 - a deep dive into the George W. Bush presidency, his handling of the 9/11 terror attacks, and subsequent Iraq War - stands as the highest-grossing theatrical documentary of all time. Moore would go on to earn acclaim for his documentary looks at the American healthcare system - 2007's Sicko - and economic system - 2011's Capitalism: A Love Story - both of which he believed to be in urgent need of repair. Now, his two latest targets are President Donald Trump and actress/comedian Roseanne Barr. During an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert (via Deadline), Moore confirmed that his next movie will center on the two controversial figures, and be called Fahrenheit 11/9. The title is both a play on Fahrenheit 9/11, and the day Trump officially became president-elect in 2016. This isn't the first time Moore has discussed the Fahrenheit 11/9 project, as he first confirmed its existence in May 2017. At the time, the film was said to be entirely about Trump, and does still look to be mostly focused on the president. Just how much focus Roseanne will get is unclear, although Moore has mentioned her several times in connection with the movie, including during Colbert. As a reminder, Moore vowed revenge on both Roseanne and Trump via social media the day after Roseanne's infamous tweet got her ABC sitcom canceled. Moore had also been the target of Roseanne's Twitter ire that day, including one derogatory remark he found particularly upsetting. Whether one loves Michael Moore, hates him, or is one of the few to fall somewhere in between those two extremes, it's undeniable that the man knows how to get attention on his movies. Only time will tell if Fahrenheit 11/9 rocks the box office in a fashion akin to Fahrenheit 9/11, but Moore's shrewd decision to release the film during the first election year of Trump's administration certainly won't hurt its chances of success. Fahrenheit 11/9 hits theaters on September 21.
  19. Michael Pena's Luis recaps Ant-Man's story thus far in a brand new promo clip for Ant-Man & The Wasp. Paul Rudd's shrinking Marvel hero is back in another adventure with a brand new partner in Evangeline Lily's The Wasp as they attempt to retrieve Michelle Pfeiffer's Janet van Dyne in the Quantum Realm. However, just like in the first Ant-Man movie, Scott's ex-convict friends are tagging along, including Luis. Immediately after his debut in the 2015 Peyton Reed-directed Marvel flick, Luis become a fan favorite, which is something that executives at Marvel Studios are well aware of. In fact, the character has been so beloved that Kevin Feige even tapped him, alongside Rudd's Scott to trace back MCU's 10-year history in last year's San Diego Comic-Con. Unfortunately, the video hasn't surfaced online yet, but fans are hoping that it'll be released sometime soon. And since Luis' animated storytelling was such a huge hit in Ant-Man, it only makes sense that its sequel includes one of those fun montages as seen in this brand new promotional clip. Courtesy of Ant-Man News on Twitter is a 30-second clip featuring Luis doing his thing. The hilarious video sees Scott's chatty pal recalling how the two of them first met in prison, and then went on babbling how he got into a tricky position after getting involved in Tony Stark and Steve Rogers' scuffle in Germany in Captain America: Civil War. It's unclear who exactly he's telling this story to, but chances are that he might be speaking with Randall Park's alleged FBI agent, Jimmy Woo. It's possible that Luis and his friends were being questioned considering that at some point in the film, Scott presumably violates the terms of his house arrest after the Pyms recruited him. Check out the clip below: Twitter Ads info and privacy In hindsight, Marvel Studios hit the jackpot with a character like Luis who can effectively be an expository machine without boring the audience as expositions usually tend to. This way, the film saves time and catches people up to speed so that the narrative can flow. In some of the previously released trailers for Ant-Man & The Wasp, he was seen talking to Hank as he basically explains how Ghost actually came to be. Safe to say that Pena's Luis would stick around a little while longer in the MCU, and people can't wait to see him interact with other characters outside of the Ant-Man franchise. As for his role in the franchise moving forward, it'll be interesting to see him suit up in the future - a possibility that a teaser for Ant-Man & The Wasp seems to be already foreshadowing after he blatantly tells Hope that it would be great if he can also have a suit. While the sequel doesn't seem likely to make Luis an official superhero (yet), he's a huge part of the movie's intense car chase where he gets to drive his own flashy purple car.
  20. Annapurna Pictures has set an official April 2019 release date for LAIKA's next stop-motion animated film, Missing Link. This will be the studio's fifth feature-length project, after its Neil Gaiman adaptation Coraline, supernatural horror/comedy ParaNorman, The Boxtrolls adaptation, and its fantasy adventure Kubo and the Two Strings. Missing Link is being written and directed by Oscar-nominee Chris Butler, who also worked on the scripts for Kubo and ParaNorman (the latter of which he additionally co-directed). The "Missing Link" refers to Mr. Link (Zach Galifianakis), who believes himself to be the last living remnant of humankind's primitive ancestry. However, when Mr. Links gets wind of rumors that there are more of his kind living in the mythical valley of Shangri-La, he sets out to find them with the assistance of Sir Lionel Frost (Hugh Jackman), who is said to be the world's "foremost investigator of myths and monsters". Further aiding the pair on their quest is Adelina Fortnight (Zoe Saldana), an adventurer who has the only known map that leads to Shangri-La. Missing Link is now scheduled to hit U.S. theaters on April 19, 2019, with Annapurna distributing. The film's current opening weekend competition includes Disneynature's documentary Penguins and an as-yet untitled Warner Bros. horror film. Missing Link will also have to compete with Robert Downey Jr.'s Voyage of Doctor Dolittle in its second weekend of release, when it comes to getting the attention of families at the box office. The Missing Link voice cast is pretty packed with talent, with Emma Thompson (The Meyerowitz Stories), Stephen Fry (The Hobbit), and Timothy Olyphant (Santa Clarita Diet) among the actors lending their voices to the film in addition to Jackman, Saldana, and Galifianakis. Curiously enough, Missing Link is further one of three upcoming animated movies that revolve around fabled human-like creatures. The other two films (Smallfoot and Abominable) both revolve around yetis and features the voice talents of Channing Tatum and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Chloe Bennet, respectively. As critically acclaimed as LAIKA's previous films (and most stop-motion movies, for that matter) have been, they tend to have limited appeal at the box office. Coraline remains the studio's highest-grossing film yet with a $125million worldwide take, whereas Kubo only took in $69 million around the globe. Fortunately, LAIKA's offerings also tend to have mid-range budgets and cost far less than other studio's animated features (Pixar's Incredibles 2, for example, cost a reported $200 million to make). As such, the pre-summer release window should serve Missing Link well and give it a nice head-start on the big tentpoles scheduled for next May, starting with Avengers 4.
  21. Solo: A Star Wars Story co-writer Jonathan Kasdan has reportedly signed on to write Indiana Jones 5. With Star Wars making headlines seemingly on a daily basis due to the state of uncertainty regarding the franchise's spinoffs, it's easy to forget Lucasfilm is in the process of bringing back their other major property. The studio has a fifth adventure for Dr. Henry Jones, Jr. on schedule for July 2020, with the dynamic duo of director Steven Spielberg and star Harrison Ford returning once again. Production on Indiana Jones 5 is set to begin next spring, and there are currently a few pre-production tasks that need taking care of. Finding a supporting cast for Ford is chief among them, and now it looks like the screenplay is back on the to-do list. Originally, Kingdom of the Crystal Skull scribe David Koepp was on Indy 5, but that job has apparently found its way to someone else with Lucasfilm ties. Collider reports Kasdan has been hired to replace Koepp on Indiana Jones 5. It's unknown if he's reworking Koepp's script (which was written back in 2016) or doing something entirely new. There are also questions regarding when Kasdan joined Indy 5, meaning he could have been on the project for a while and it's only coming to light now. For their part, Lucasfilm has remained silent on the matter. Solo has the infamous distinction of being the first Star Wars movie to lose money, though that was due to circumstances largely outside of Kasdan's control. Lucasfilm held the Solo script in high regard, which is reportedly where some of the pesky creative differences with original Solo directors Phil Lord & Chris Miller came into play. The studio is obviously a fan of Kasdan's work, and wanted to continue their partnership. While not regarded as the greatest Star Wars movie, Solo still did a good job fleshing out Han Solo's backstory by way of an entertaining heist film, so Kasdan knows how to craft an old school tentpole. In fact, Alden Ehrenreich cited Indiana Jones as a template Solo sequels should follow, so it's only natural for Kasdan to write for the world famous archeologist next. It remains to be seen what narrative Indiana Jones 5 sets out to tell, but there is a lot of pressure on the film to deliver. Crystal Skull was widely seen as a disappointment, and with this likely being Ford's final go-around as Indiana Jones (capping off an unofficial legacy sequel trilogy with Force Awakens and Blade Runner 2049), everyone involved wants to see him get the proper sendoff he deserves. Kasdan is no stranger to tough situations, as it surely wasn't easy writing Han Solo for a different actor. Hopefully, he's up for the challenge.
  22. With Avengers: Infinity War continuing to dominate both the box office and audience conversations, an artist has celebrated the achievement by releasing an epic three-in-one poster for The Avengers, Avengers: Age of Ultron and Infinity War. Though the still-untitled Avengers 4 will serve as the culmination of Phase 3 - which in itself will serve as the end of an era - Infinity War is the latest successful trilogy installment in what will, after the release of Ant-Man and The Wasp, be the MCU's impressive 20-movie streak. Since it kicked off all the way back in 2008, only standalone, individual franchises have reached the big three. Firs there was Iron Man, Iron Man 2, and Iron Man 3. It was swiftly followed by Captain America: The First Avenger, The Winter Soldier, and Civil War. And, last year, it was joined by Thor: Ragnarok, which followed up on Thor and Thor: The Dark World in stunning and hilarious fashion, with director Taika Waititi finally giving the God of Thunder (Chris Hemsworth) the opportunity to reach his full potential. It's a milestone that will be soon be joined by the Guardians of the Galaxy, now that James Gunn has completed work on his first draft for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Even with so many films under their belt, though, Infinity War marks only the third time the majority of the MCU has joined forces. Posting the image on his personal Twitter page, French graphic designer and poster artist, Julien Rico Jr's triptych encompasses Avengers, Age of Ultron, and Infinity War. Check out the triptych, then the individual movie posters below. Already coming to the attention of co-directors Joe and Anthony Russo, who were quick to offer a like, each differently colored and specifically crafted panel features such familiar characters as Loki, Black Widow, Doctor Strange, and Spider-Man. Similarly, each features iconic imagery like Loki's invasion of Earth in The Avengers, Scarlet Witch grieving over the death of her brother, Pietro/Quicksilver, in Age of Ultron and not only the battle on Titan but also the fallout of Thanos' infamous finger-snap in Infinity War. The latter is a touch that will no doubt either be considered genius or far too soon. The dust of such dearly departed characters as Groot, Bucky Barnes, and Black Panther blow in an imagined breeze and spread across all three panels, forming the classic 'A' symbol that serves as the logo for Earth's Mightiest Heroes. Whatever side of the fence MCU fans fall on, however, there is no denying that it's a beautiful piece that many will be clamoring to have adorning their walls as they await to see what becomes of their favorite heroes next year.
  23. Individual character concept art for Avengers 4 - including Captain Marvel, Thanos, Hawkeye and more - has been released online. Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, the ultimate culminating film of the MCU's first decade is expected to wrap-up the 22-movie narrative that the franchise has been following since 2008's Iron Man. And considering where things were left in Avengers: Infinity War, fans are undoubtedly on the edge of their seats waiting for any clue about what goes down in the film. Not much is known regarding story specifics of the movie and a huge part of it is because Marvel Studios remains cagey about next year's ensemble flick. That said, it's no secret the film will feature the original Avengers trying to save the universe from the predicament that Thanos' deadly snap left them in. In the process, fans expect them to resurrect most, if not all of their colleagues who, unfortunately, turned to dust by the end of Avengers: Infinity War. At the core of it all, the heroes are learning to be in a "true team" as they go on possibly their most dangerous mission yet. Shared by artist AJ Design on they're official Twitter are several character illustrations for Captain Marvel, Thanos, Rocket, War Machine, Nebula, Hulk and, yes, Hawkeye. Fans who have been closely following updates for Avengers 4 may be familiar with the artwork considering they're the same images used in the previously leaked ensemble concept art. Interestingly, however, solo images for Iron Man, Captain America, Black Widow, Thor, and Ant-Man are not included. Check them out below. Twitter Ads info and privacy While these images have previously been revealed, a closer look at some of the heroes is still very intriguing, especially for Captain Marvel since Marvel Studios hasn't released an official look at Brie Larson's upcoming character yet. Hulk, on the other hand, is wearing what looks like a spandex top. MCU's presentation at CineEuorope actually confirmed that the green raging monster will be sporting a new armor, although it's unknown if that's different from what's featured in the Avengers 4 art. Other interesting tidbits include War Machine seeming like he got some significant upgrades in his armor - possibly thanks to Tony Stark, plus a good look at Hawkeye, who many sorely missed in Infinity War. The Russos, as well as the cast and crew of Avengers 4, are supposedly back to work with reshoots and additional filming scheduled to last through the whole summer. So fans can expect several set photos emerging online if the film once again shoots outside of a soundstage. But with Marvel Studios continuing to be cagey about the movie (they still haven't announced its official title), chances are that even with leaked set photos, we won't be able to decipher too much of what's going to happen in the highly anticipated blockbuster.
  24. M. Night Shyamalan has confirmed that he and the cast of Glass will be hosting a panel for the film at next month's San Diego Comic-Con. Glass will serve as the third chapter in the filmmaker's comic book-inspired trilogy that began 18 years ago with Unbreakable and (unexpectedly) continued with last year's Split. Unbreakable stars Samuel L. Jackson and Bruce Willis are reprising their roles as Elijah Prince and David Dunn in Shyamalan's new film, along with Split's James McAvoy as Kevin Crumb. Blumhouse Productions debuted the first Glass trailer footage back at CinemaCon in April. The short clip revealed that Shyamalan's sequel picks up with Elijah, David, and Kevin having all been either imprisoned and/or committed over their claims that they have super-powers. American Horror Story's Sarah Paulson joins the trio in the film as the psychiatrist tasked with trying to understand who these mysterious (super-)men are. Needless to say, that doesn't work out and eventually all three break out of their "prison", setting them on a collision course in the real world. It was reported just last week that Blumhouse is planning to bring both Glass and its Halloween sequel/reboot to SDCC this year. Shyamalan has now made the news official and confirmed that he will be present for Glass' Hall H panel on Friday, July 20, via a post to his Twitter account (see the screenshot included below). The filmmaker further unveiled the Glass teaser poster and teased a "surprise" at the SDCC panel, which almost certainly refers to the first Glass trailer. Shyamalan also mentioned that the Glass cast will accompany him at the film's SDCC panel. It stands to reason that Willis, Jackson, McAvoy, and Paulson will all be joining him in Hall H, along with Anya Taylor-Joy (who is reprising her Split character, Casey Cooke, in Glass). All five performers have bonafides when it comes to geeky pop culture of both the comic book-based and/or suspense/thriller variety, so one imagines the Glass panel will end up being one of the more popular movie panels at this year's 'Con. For Shyamalan, the return to SDCC is fitting since that's where he started his comeback tour three years ago. The filmmaker screened his horror/thriller pseudo-documentary The Visit at the event back in 2015 and started generating positive buzz for the film, ahead of its premiere in theaters. Split's enthusiastic reception only further cemented Shyamalan's return to form, even before it became common knowledge that the film is an Unbreakable sequel in disguise that sets the stage for Glass. As such, the director's latest visit to San Diego will be all the more anticipated for it.
  25. M. Night Shyalaman reveals the teaser poster for his upcoming film, Glass. Last year, the director delivered one of his best twists in years, when audiences were shocked to learn Shyamalan's thriller Split took place in the same universe as his beloved superhero film Unbreakable. For years, fans have clamored for a proper followup to the story of Bruce Willis' David Dunn, and now that project is almost upon us. In addition to Willis, Samuel L. Jackson, James McAvoy, and Anya Taylor-Joy are reprising their roles from the previous installments of this unlikely franchise. The turnaround on Glass was extremely fast. It was officially confirmed by Shyamalan in April 2017 and quickly made its way through production, wrapping last December. Shyamalan has been hard at work editing the film, but he's taking time out of his busy schedule to showcase Glass at San Diego Comic-Con next month. Hall H should have plenty of surprises, but the director's getting the hype train started a little early. Shyamalan took to his official Twitter account, sharing the teaser poster for Glass. It depicts David Dunn, Mr. Glass (Jackson), and Kevin Wendell Crumb (McAvoy) confined in chairs, while the reflections of their alter-egos stand strong. Check it out for yourself in the space below: Footage for Glass was shown at CinemaCon earlier this year, revealing that Dunn, Kevin, and Mr. Glass are all imprisoned or institutionalized at the start of the film, being interviewed by Sarah Paulson's psychiatrist character. This would explain why David is incarcerated on the poster. Of course, things won't stay that way for long, with the movie's synopsis teasing a series of showdowns between Dunn and The Beast - orchestrated by none other than Elijah Price (who claims to know secrets about both men). Leaked set videos and photos have shown the two in some kind of confrontation, and given their respective power sets, it should be interesting to see them battle onscreen. Mr. Glass was a psychological opponent for Dunn, but Kevin Wendell Crumb looks to be a more physical adversary. Fortunately, fans will have a better idea of what to expect from Glass in the very near future. With Shyamalan and the cast visiting Hall H this year, it's all but a guarantee there will be some footage shown, quite possibly an official teaser. Of course, nobody should expect any trailer to be all that revealing (knowing Shyamalan, he's got another twist up his sleeve), but we should learn a bit about Glass' themes and overall story. Based on the tag line from the one-sheet, the main characters are all going to embrace who they really are. After years of waiting, hopefully Shyamalan delivers on the potential.
