The Witcher 3's Graphics Are Still Being Improved 5 Years Later By Fans
PixieDust replied to Nergal 's topic in Gaming News
That's not a surprise, giving the fact that fans are still modding games like Morrowind (released 18 years ago) -
Perfect is a mortal enemy of good. Sometimes it's better to ship earlier than later. I think those delays aren't making Cyberpunk any favors.

I really enjoyed Divinity Series (Divine Divinity has opened my eyes to Diablo clones; it showed me that the clone could be better than the original), and I have much respect for Larian. However, their games have a certain type of humor; while it's very fitting inside their Divinity series, I wouldn't want it to exist in Baldur's Gate. It's not that I think it's bad, on the contrary, but I think Baldur should be much more dark and serious. Then again, I trust Larian that they know what they're doing

Dragon Age 4 & Next-Gen Need For Speed Imagery Don't Show Enough
PixieDust replied to Nergal 's topic in Gaming News
I really hope DA4 won't be rushed. It's a franchise that needs lots of polish, lots of details and NO automatically generated content (I'm looking at you, DA:I). I'm having a hard time figuring out why lots of companies don't respect their own long-time franchises, often when first parts of the franchise made them tons of money. -

If you have an error saying "your account can not download free games anymore", then logout from Epic launcher, change your IP by using a VPN or some proxy, relogin to your Epic account and they you'll be able to pick up the game. (If you don't know what a VPN or a proxy is, then you have to look it up, sorry)

Are Original And Cracked Games Same?
PixieDust replied to Folk846's topic in Gamer's Hangout and Discussions
It depends on the game. It's best to consult a readme file, of NFO file, as those files most of the times contain information about what have been cut from the game, if anything. There are releases that are incomplete, but there are releases that are 100% full, and nothing was removed from the game. So it simply depends on the particular release of the cracked game. Game rips (games with removed content) were popular years ago, where internet bandwidth was important. Some people couldn't afford to download games with all cutscenes because the game was too big to download, so they prefered game rips, games without cutscenes, music, etc. But nowadays I'm not sure if those forms of releases are popular anymore. -
Xbox Showcase Date Might Be May 5, Says A New Report
PixieDust replied to Cindra's topic in Gaming News
Pretty excited to see how they will manage to create this generation of consoles. PS5 showcase date is somewhere the same time as well. I probably won't buy it immediately, I'll wait for first bugfixes, hardware problems, etc, to appear and wait for "rev. B" version of those consoles, but eventually I'll probably buy PS5 -
The Division 2 Title Update 9 Announced, Exotic Reconfiguration
PixieDust replied to Cindra's topic in Gaming News
That's nice when a company releases patches that fix lots of things, too bad they don't mention that they release patches that make the game use new CPU instruction sets. The game won't run on "older" processors like AMD Phenom II, which is by the way fast enough for most people, because it uses SSE4.2, and this CPU doesn't support it. Best thing is that they've introduced this requirement since Jan or Feb this year. Game stopped working for lots of people and is just crashing. -
Elder Scrolls Online Servers Down, Bethesda Investigating Login Issues

Tried to play it, but I prefer standard The Elder Scrolls, made by Bethesda instead of Zenimax. Can't wait for next TES. -
85% of Gamers Are Willing to Buy PS5, A Survey Reveals
PixieDust replied to Cindra's topic in Gaming News
Gamers... and their pledges. I remember seeing a screenshot of a Steam group called 'Modern Warfare boycott' with lots of gamers who are currently playing... modern warfare. I wonder how many gamers said they would *like to have* a PS5 instead of *would like to buy*, also if the survey is 1 year old, then voters didn't have any information about the fact that PS5 will be relatively more expensive than previous consoles. This info would probably impact lots of votes. -
Watch Dogs Legion Likely A Day One PS5 & Series X Launch Title
PixieDust replied to Nergal 's topic in Gaming News
Probably will be PC but after delay, which is not a super-bad thing, lots of bugs will get fixed, price will drop, maybe it will be possible to buy 'definitive edition' or similar with all DLCs included. I'd prefer this than ability to be among first who play a 'naked' game, being an un-paid betatester in the meantime Bigger problem will probably be PS5 itself, it will be expensive, at least people say it will ;( -

This is a complicated problem and I'm not sure I agree with blocking 8chan; I mean I don't support killing and pathology, but blocking 8chan seems to be what is called an 'ass covering' move and nothing more. Blocking 8chan will not help with anything; more similar sites will pop up, like a new head of the Hydra. What Cloudflare tells us it that: "we're not interested in this at all, we just don't want to be associated with it, take your stuff and go somewhere else". This approach doesn't solve any problem, it only moves them somewhere else.

They have problem understanding that their highly valued ability to shape opinions is mostly because the piracy of their content is so widespread. By fighting off piracy, they're not converting the non-paying user to paying user, but they're simply rejecting the user and the user won't watch the content at all. I'm not sure it's good for them because it's a good road to take when someone wants to fall into a pit of nothingness and oblivion. The ability to shape opinions is also the reason why they're getting money stream from other places; hey, this film will be watched by millions, let's pay the director to put some products in it! -- this will never happen if the film will be watched by 1000s instead of 100000s.

The best method of fighting off piracy is improving the service so it's easier to use. I was a heavy movie downloader years ago, but when VOD started to become more popular and Netflix started being available to me, I've bought it and I'm mostly watching stuff from them. Why? Because it's easier to use Netflix than Torrents, just click a button on a remote and that's it, they will even have always matching subtitles if needed. I'm still using Torrents to get stuff that's unavailable on VOD, or the service is bad. I.e. I've evaluated HBO GO not long time ago. I won't use their platform, because several times on each episode I get "buffering...", even when I have 200mbit link at home. Also their watching application hangs and doesn't save subtitle settings. Why should I pay them and be frustrated at their bad service, when I can download a torrent and watch the content anywhere I want?
